New DC hired?
#1
Saw today that Safety Dajahn Anthony stated the Bengals have already made a decision and hired the new DC, which will be announced soon. He said it will shock a lot of people and he is excited. So it's one of the two they interviewed already, or it's in house is my guess.

He did say via TicTok they hired a new DC already.

I imagine they'd announce today or Monday.

I also have to imagine if this ends up being true, he will get told to stop acting like a moron on tikTok

I hope not. Going to guess it's Patrick Graham.

I heard Bill Belichick as DC and Bill Cowher as LB coach Ninja

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

The last I heard, they have only interviewed 2 candidates. If it is one of them, it would not "shock" anyone.

The only way it would "shock" us is if it is 1) an internal promotion 2) someone they interviewed secretly 3) someone they have not interviewed at all (would they really hire someone without interviewing them?)

Mike heard people calling the Bengals "finesse" and questioned their toughness, so it's Vontaze Burfict.

"shocked" doesn't always mean good. But I wonder what experience he has in the league to be excited about many DC candidates?

Despite who it may be, I wish this organization would have taken some time to see what they could get. ZT got turned down by so many coaches in the past, that he probably had an interest and jumped on it immediately.

We will never know, but maybe black Monday he walked into meeting with FO and already had the replacement for DC locked up. He said I a going to fire and Lou and here is his replacement. If so, he needed to interview 2 minorities so he did it quickly so Zac would beat other teams to signing his guy.

Again, who knows. Maybe once announced, we will understand more.

As long as Marvin understood he was the DC and not the HC, I would have zero problem with it.

Zero? Even though he hasn't been a DC since before some of the incoming rookies were born?

2002 was a long time ago. The league average completion % was 59.6, the average QB Rating was 80.4. This year those numbers were 65.3% and 92.3... it's a pretty different league defensively.

I don't like it. The 2 guys they interviewed are not impressive.

Under the Belichick tree is about the only thing that gives me positive thoughts.

Eberflus would bring a lot more excitement as he has been good as a DC in a 4-3.

If they made a decision, ya gotta think it's someone on a coaching staff that is still in the (college) playoffs.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
