Duffner and Cioffi fired?
#1
Makes sense as the new D coordinator would be able to hire his guys.

Cioffi's name has been off the coaching roster since at least the 7th. I don't recall if I noticed Duffner's gone when I looked at the list that day

All hopes turn to next year

Well Zac has his man. Wonder who?
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

So who is left from Lou’s defensive staff at this point? (Too lazy to do the research)

This is good because to get change and the coordinator they want they have to let him help pick his staff.

I'm good with the continued trimming and letting a new Defensive Coordinator have control over his staff and scheme.

Who Dey

I'm excited to see who they hire.

Rumor from yesterday is Eberflus is in the mix.
https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2025/01/11/cincinnati-bengals-defensive-coordinator-hiring-matt-eberflus/

I hope it's true, as I had mentioned it back when Eberflus got let go by the Bears and think he would run a good defense like he did in Indy.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Kovacs and Burkes, the two DB coaches. I would have thought they would have been the first two shown the door.

For what reason? It's not their fault that the two best CBs on the team were lost for the season to injury. If anything, they have actually done a pretty good job at getting their younger talent up to speed, whereas the DL and LB coaches have had fresh talent on their hands for years and failed to develop any of them.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

For the reason it seems to me every time a wide receiver makes a catch, our DB's seem to be giving them a 5-8 yd cushion instead of being locked onto them. Maybe that's the D-lines fault, maybe it's not, but we have not had good DB play this year.... at least to my eyes.

That isn't their fault, Lou was the one calling the defensive plays each down. As positional coaches, their job is simply to teach the players how to execute the coverage called on any given down. It's not their fault if Lou was calling for soft cushion, perhaps he was attempting to reduce the number of home run balls given up?

They certainly are responsible for the piss poor tackling. Those position coaches should have addressed that from the beginning.

I’m glad they are cleaning house on the defensive side. There isn’t anyone worthwhile on that side of the ball.

Actually, it was mainly the LBs and other front seven that were largely responsible for the poor tackling. Have you ever taken a moment to simply admire the way that Mike Hilton ends a play, quickly?

Well, it's kinda thier fault for playing our best CB at Safety for 2 years

Again, was that their call, or Lou's?
