After watching the NFL playoffs ( only two games did QB have 300 or more yards vs 7 games RBs had over 100 yards), and seeing the increased success of late with running teams, was wondering if we need to run the ball more often next year. I noticed that we 3-1 this year when Brown got 20 or more carries. Of course part of running the ball less was our defense put us in that position but we also know that under Taylor/Burrow we have tended to be one of the lower teams in running plays. Maybe with Peters as our new Oline coach we might see more running the ball. Thoughts?

Do we need to? No.
Should we? I'm hesitant. Brown already received 229 carries this year. I would prefer to see his usage stay around there and have another guy to take touches away from him. This also depends on what happens with Tee. Cincinnati is a spread heavy team. They are looking to let their passing game work. If Higgins leaves in FA, one of the biggest pieces of that attack leaves. In 2024, Burrow had 1,335 yards, 12 TDs and two interceptions without Higgins. They made it work, so if he leaves then I suspect the offense doesn't change that much.
What I believe will happen is that Brown will receive more carries due to being the lead back next year, but the offense will largely stay the same. Heavy shotgun, a lot of spread concepts, and Burrow airing the ball out.

We should give someone more carries. If not Brown, then someone else we add through the draft.
Can't be 2nd in pass attempts and 30th in rushing attempts again. Need some more balance there.

I agree with you. The teams in the playoffs are having success running he ball, it drains the clock and wears the opposing defense out and frustrates them to no end which helps get those Mahomes (15 yard penalties).
I think we all know Joe is amazing but he gets hit way too often and our clock management is nothing short of atrocious on a good day. If we had made the playoffs I imagine Joe would get sacked 6 times a game with our current play calling and we'd give up over 30 per game.

The Bengals need to draft, and or sign 2 new guards,at least. Also, wouldn't mind a new center. Is Matt Lee the answer there?

I do think we need to run the ball more and increase Browns work load at average 18 to 20 carries a game.

He might be, he looked much better than I thought he would last season. I hope he comes back about 10-15# thicker in his lower body, to better handle the push from big NTs.
As to the OP, I agree with TLL that the Bengal offense needs to be more balanced. If that means that Brown is getting more carries, great. It would be even better if someone else could rise up and help shoulder some of the load, as being dependent upon just one RB is a risky venture.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

If we can build an OL anywhere close to Philly’s, or KC’s interior, then yes. As it stands right now we pretty much need Burrow and Chase to go crazy to have a top offense.

Same thing I was thinking but, specifically, the interior offensive line.
Aside from improving the run game, Burrow having more time with better protection will only increase Brown's effectiveness because team's will be more focused on the pass game, which opens up run games and gives Brown more room to run.
Just having the ball more will increase the number of carries he receives and having a defense that can stop people will mean that we don't have to throw as much and can play more of a ball controlled offense.
He'll get more carries just because we'll have the ball more and we'll be playing with the lead more.

I feel as though CB30 gets plenty already. Remember, screens and dump offs are an extension of the run game too, and he did pretty well in that aspect. I think if they improve the interior Offensive Line, these touches he’s already getting will net more yards and TDs. If anything, I’d like them to get a thumper RB2 for the short yardage situations and change of pace.

Now that we have Brown and Herbert we can use both in tandem. We'll also possibly have Moss assuming he recovers fully. We'll have to see what the offseason offers us here as the first priority is getting Guards.

It would be nice to have a better run game to complement Joe but no I don't think we need to get more carries to a RB.

Yeah, get this Offense more balanced is all we can ask. That is a bit ridiculous. I know Zac likes to keep the ball in our best players hands, but
when you pass the ball it is more likely for bad things to happen regardless of how good Joe Burrow is. Bring back Herbert, add another talented
RB in the Draft and be more balanced next season with better IOL play and look out.
It will take a ton of pressure off of Burrow and he could still continue to break records passing the ball. Would just be harder for Defenses to stop
this time around with a respectable running game. The good thing about Chase Brown is he shown he can be a #1 RB running the ball and now
he can catch and even pass block. He is a 3 down RB which is awesome to know we have that player now.

This.
After the Moss injury Chase Brown was playing 80%+ of the snaps and was getting nearly all the RB touches. He probably won't survive a full season at those numbers.

Completely agree but it’s more tied to their success rate analytics. What needs to happen is better OL run blocking. Peters was a change needed much sooner. Our run block win rate next to last. But NE last
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Yeah, this thread is giving me Gio Bernard vibes. Great player. Very shifty. Very fast. Too small to be a feature back. Definitely needs to have a partner in the RB room.

Bengals tried to buy an interior OL in 2022, but got only 2 out of 3 when Brady convinced Jensen to stay put in Tampa.
But that was before Burrow extension and now Chase extension coming.
I feel that our Bengals can only contend again, if Burrow is willing to accept the KC model. Tyreek Hill is great, Chase is great, but......

No to keep hammering the same point, but the Bengals need a banger at RB. He doesn't have to be the fastest, nor the shiftiest. He just needs to go forward, hit the hole, and fall forward for positive yardage, like Rudi Johnson, but more of a punishing runner ideally.
Let him take the carries in short yardage, or to grind out the game and punish the defense.
The banger would likely see more extra carries than what was seen this year, as hopefully the defense is better and gives the ball back to the defense more foten through stops and turn overs. Current favorite for the role is Millings out of Michigan,
