A woman on TikTok just said that, if a woman falsely accuses a man of something of doing something to her, she should have to serve the time that he was going to have to serve.

I believe that there are already laws in place that cover that sort of thing. There is also the option of a civil suit.

Just someone looking for clicks and trying to stir things up. Falsely accused? Civil suit and she can be forced to pay damages and back costs. She's also criminally liable for making a false charge. Finally, I would not want this. What if it isn't a false accusation but then it doesn't get proved? Does she automatically go to jail? Talk about discouraging women from reporting assaults. It's estimated that only 1/3 of assaults actually get reported. What would happen to the likelihood of women reporting assaults who have already been abused probably not just physically but mentally as well, if they have the possibility of going to jail if their case isn't proven? No. I do not want this at all. ![]()

It would have to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that she was lying, not that it can't be proven. Your points about women being too traumatized or fear of being shamed or getting in trouble I why I posted the question. |
