Heard this yesterday and expected to find a thread, but since none exists...

Quote:The Carolina Panthers are keeping their quarterback room together. The Panthers announced on Tuesday that they re-signed backup quarterback Andy Dalton on a two-year deal. According to ESPN, the contract will have a base value of $6 million and can be worth as much as $10 million.

Good on Andy.  We can debate his tenure here for another 20 years but he's a good guy and he and his wife did a lot of good for this community.  So congrats on another two years in the game and some nice paychecks to boot.

And, with just another 740 yards he'll pass Unitas for 25th all time in yards.  With just another 1,052 yards he can pass Joe Montana for 24th, and I'm all for knocking that guy down the list.

Good for Andy, great guy.

I suppose they figure he can help mentor their young QB's while they're rebuilding.

I still like to watch Andy play (as long as he's not in stripes). I don't think you could ask for a better backup.

Hard to believe he's about to start his 15th season.  He's a grizzled old veteran.

The guys on NFL Radio were talking about Andy getting a new deal to remain in Carolina, and how much he embraces the role of mentoring the young guy. Obviously the Panthers are happy to have him around in that capacity, as well as having likely one of the best backups in the league if needed. They also touched on the fact that much of Andy's accomplishments as a QB go by unnoticed, due to the lack of post season success in the Marvin Lewis era.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
