You guys need to get ready for the possibility that we don’t sign Tee OR Trey

While he has probably above average pocket mobility he doesn't have the ability as a runner as many of these other top QBs. He also doesn't have the offense design around him that takes pressure off his shoulders. Taylor does good with route concepts but Burrow needs to read and distribute the ball. In this offense you need multiple good receivers.

I guess if you think in this scenario we won't sign a cheaper #2 or draft a WR?

If Higgins isn't on the team i have no doubt we will bring in 1 or more receivers. I do doubt that they are his equivalent though.

Outside of Burton the Bengals typically draft WR very well. I'm not terribly concerned but I don't want to use a 1st round pick on a WR either.

We just have an understanding of how the management of this team likes to operate and can foresee the likely outcome. I just hope that in their attempt to appease their franchise QBs wishes, that the management stands their ground and comes up with a deal that could pay bigger dividends to Higgins contingent on the amount of his availability. With the percentage of guaranteed money getting written into contracts the past couple of years, I don't think that my wishes are likely to happen.

Sunset, I do find it interesting that Tee played in 16 games in '20, '21 and '22, but only 12 games in '23 and '24. in '21 he played in 20 games and '22 in 19 games (including playoffs)

Might it be related to him not getting the second contract in '23 and having to then also play on the tag in '24? Would it make sense to protect himself?

Or is it a coincidence - two years in a row?

I am just wondering.......

You might be onto something, when times are good injuries hurt less. When we're struggling, injuries can be incapacitating.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I got told i was crazy yesterday cause most fans think we’re signing Tee OR Trey but i wanna be the 1st to say it……we ain’t extending EITHER.

If anyone really cares and want to know why i think this i will explain but to me it’s obvious we are moving on from both when their contact ends.

Isn't Hendrickson on the 2025 Bengals anyway. I don't see him listed as a free agent.

I don't see how anybody can be surprised if they don't keep Higgins.  I really think it should be against the rule to keep one year tagging the same player, I would think the Players Union would be against players not being able to get multi-year contracts.  If Higgins goes, the cupboard is not bare.  They have to sign Chase to a bank breaking contract. Bengals have that other good WR.  If I was Bengals owners, which I'm not, I would get my next WR where they got Boyd and Higgins, The Draft.  Maybe a Round 2, should be a good WR in Round 2 still.  Lower pay, so as owner you can rebuild the awful Defense with the new D Coordinator.   A good solid D and good Blockers.  Burrow will get the ball to Chase and Iosivas and a good draft pick WR.

The Bengals have been missing the Play-offs, so it's time to re-tool and re-load and rebuild around Burrow and Chase.  That Higgins money is needed in other areas of The Rebuild.

I could be wrong, but I think Hendrickson is a Bengals in 2025 anyway. If I'm right, that's not a concern right now. Adding more Defense is, and they could use a Bell Cow DT up the gut. Bengals have been weak at DT last two years. You build The D from Front to back, and you must have a top DT, and Bengals don't.  However after free agency and draft, they could be solid at DT.  If you can stop the run, you can be better against the pass. However if teams can run up the gut on you, then you have no Defense.  Bengals last 2 years have been one of worst Defenses in NFL.  As good as Burrow is, you need some Defense to help Burrow out.  Burrow can not score 50 points a game, too many good Defenses.  So we must have a good Defense. Put the Tee Higgins money into Defense,

And there’s the rub. People don’t want to re-sign Tee, but also don’t want to use a high draft pick on his replacement. In an offense as pass centric as this one that sounds less than ideal to me.

Yep. And WRs drafted high are far from a sure thing.

Odunze was pretty dominant in college.54 catches. 734 yards. 3 TDs.

That was a good year. Tees better right now.
