Another possibility may be that when a player's future is not guaranteed with the Team, he may not want to exacerbate an injury and jeopardize his next contract. Most players sustain some injury during a season and play through it. But if a player feels offended, abused or taken advantage of by the Team, he simply does not play through the injury. Why shoot up pre-game and at half-time, then go through the week in pain, then do it all over week after week - especially if you know your sacrifice will not get rewarded by the Team?
Tee has enough tape in the league, so he doesn't have to prove himself as a player. He is already viewed as a top shelf #1 WR. PFF ranked his as #6 WR of 2024.
I am skeptical of this narrative of Higgins as injury prone. I feel that one needs to look at all circumstances surrounding a player before coming to a conclusion.
I guess we will find out if this narrative holds true. If the the league perceives him as injury prone, no Team will pursue a contract with him at numbers he is seeking; thus, we will get no trade offers. Although he is already disadvantaged because of the draft pick compensation. The clear signal would have been if he was not tagged.
If some board members feel that signing him would jeopardize the overall construct of the Team, then that makes sense to me. However; I disagree with the notion that he is not worth the numbers he is seeking because of his history of injuries.
