BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded

Pretty much a bunch of repetitive posting. sharing nothing of value at all.

Kinda like my response to you I suppose.

Nah. You provided a nice synopsis of what's going on.

I disagree on what you said about having a few elite players on the team that are viewed as elite having a toxic or negative effect on the team as a whole.

The best thing the Bengals have going for them is they are very much a team (almost family-like). The culture is good.

Within a good team culture everyone is celebrating everyone else's success and nobody wants to see others fail.

I thought the top players on the Bengals handled the failure as best as they could last year. Burrow and Chase for example could have blamed the defense in post game interviews--but they would always say stuff like, 'yeah, but we could have closed the game out earlier (pointing to a late drive they failed on)'. (not a word for word quote but that's the type of thing they would say).

I agree that more humility needs to be used in todays discussions. There is too much name calling and strawman arguments going around that furthers the divide. It takes a concerted effort by all parties to be civil and talk things out rationally. Things get too emotionally charged. I remember in school we had classes on forming arguments and arguing one side or another and I didn't like it. You were taught not to concede and discuss openly. You were taught to butt heads. It's part of the culture and the media reinforces it.

Then we disagree. And that is fine.

"BREAKING: The Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to trade star Trey Hendrickson to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2025 3rd round pick. The reigning sack leader heads to Green Bay where he’s expecting to sign a long term deal. (per@AdamSchefter"

But, it appears to be some random, made-up, fake-news post. As one person pointed out, Adam Schefter apparently has no such information on his feed. ... And it was posted 8 hours ago

Fake news crap. Damn does it get old. Whatever

So the Chiefs players are void of emotions and feelings since Reid is the coach and Mahomes is the QB.

That makes sense now.  Sarcasm

This is a pretty tricky situation here. I trade him no matter what if I can get a 1st or early to mid 2nd rounder in this years draft.
I wouldn’t extend him under any circumstance. His value will never be higher.
As bad as the publicity would be, I’d make him play his contract out. However, I only go that route if we improved the roster enough to be contenders and we haven’t improved it AT ALL so far.
So, my hope is we get a premium pick, and bolster the roster somehow and move on.

We should trade Burrow and Chase, too. Their value will never be higher.

Who needs great players when you can get a draft pick? A bird in the hand is worth less than potentially a bird in the bush, as the saying goes. If we get really lucky we can turn those draft picks into an MVP candidate, Triple Crown WR, and Sack Title DE!

Will that first or second round pick out perform Trey over a 2 year period? Aren’t we in win now mode? Or are we building to win 4-5 years down the line?

I 100% agree we haven’t improved our team at all this off season, but trading a mid teen sack DE, our best defensive player by a mile, completely worsens our team. Would a defensive rookie of the year be better than what Trey brings? The answer is No.

The trade would of happened I think by now. Trey will be back thank God. You are right, no draft pick is going to replace any of these guys.

It appears Bengals have a high asking price for Trey. I am confident he will be with us in 2025. Bengals still very much in driver's seat. Those teams thinking the price will drop are fooling themselves.

"However, during a segment on NFL Network, reporter Cameron Wolfe revealed what Cincinnati is looking for in return for the four-time Pro Bowler.

“I also checked with some teams there and was told the asking price for Trey Hendrickson was also very high,” Wolfe said. “The Bengals are asking for a first-round pick and more, I was told. Teams are waiting that out and hoping that that market drops a little bit.”

As they should. A first round pick and a player are the way to go IMO.

A first round pick and a player for Trey??? Bahahaha you’re living in lala land. No team in their right mind would give up that for Hendrickson and rework his contract. Hell no team would give up just a first round pick for him. That would be insanely stupid. His market value at best is a late second round pick and realistically just a 3rd. NFL GM’s would laugh in their face to ask for a number 1 pick and that’s why this franchise’s front office is the laughing stock around the league. So out of touch with how to treat players and what players are worth from a monetary standpoint and trade stand point. Just so out of touch with all the other front offices around the league. What a joke, Trey Hendrickson for a first rounder plus ???

It’s not all that surprising to hear that a team that stubbornly struggled to re-sign its key players is equally as difficult when it comes to trading others. Russini reports that “teams are willing to pay Hendrickson the contract he desires,” suggesting that the asking price on the Bengals’ end is simply too much to get a deal done at this time. Hendrickson will be 30 at the start of next season and has racked up 34 sacks over the last two years. By allowing Hendrickson to seek a trade with another suitor, the belief is the team will eventually sign Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to long-term deals this offseason. Their asking price for Hendrickson could eventually come down, but with the offseason just getting underway, the Bengals could opt to wait to see how things develop in the coming months.

Per rotoworld crediting Diana Russini.

too funny..I think that Joe Burrow and others on this team would disagree with you regarding the bengals paying players.I can think of about twenty eight NFL teams that would love to be in the position that this franchise is with Joe Burrow etc..but thank you for your survey of front offices around the league.....IOts funny...contributors like yourself think a player like Trey is a gift from football  god.s.the absolute best but then trash the bengals front office for wanting a first round pick for him

That is what the team is asking and that is the point that flew right over your head. Trey isn't going anywhere. Mellow

So best case would have been no team willing to pay him that much...but alas a bunch were.
