BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded
Not sure why people don't see the play here. They're letting him explore his options so they can gauge the amount of interest and what other teams think he is worth. That info will be used to try and extend him. TH will be back in a Bengal uniform next season unless it's a can't turn down type of offer.

Makes sense... hope you are right.

Does scary me a bit paying huge money to a guy going into his 30's

Don’t think it will happen but I would trade Trey and our 4th round pick (or 3rd rounder?) in a heartbeat for Washington’s late first rounder.
I think Washington would say no for sure.

What about Trey for their 2025 second rounder (61st pick) and their third rounder next year?
I would prefer an earlier second rounder for Trey…

Reggie White had 16 sacks at age 37.
Not saying Trey is Reggie, but I think to write him off as old is a bit premature.

I'd be careful if I was Mike Brown. More careful than he was with Whitworth.

Just saying.

It appears some of the same people upset we did not trade Tee when he had high value are now upset we are allowing Trey to see his value as they can discuss a new contract extension for him.

He is not gone yet. I think it is smart for the team to see his trade value as well. If we can get a 1st round pick for him or a top 5 second round pick, they may take it. If not, they will probably have him play out his contract. They could always tag him in 2026 as well. This is business and as fans we may hate the FO for being very good business people, the fact is they are very good business people.

Trey asked for a trade last year before Burrow ever made any comments about keeping Tee.

There are always outliers. Reggie's original team trade him if my memory serves me to the Packers. The Eagles did not believe he would be productive. They were wrong, ut happens.

Trey is a great pass rusher, but only average of below average against the run. Crosby for example is a beast against the run and the pass and why his value is higher than Trey.

I get Trey wants a 3rd great contract, he earned it. The question becomes what is his contractual value and can Try and team come to an agreement. If not, then trade becomes a real possibiity before the draft.

This reminds a bit of KC trading arguably one of or their best OL Thuney. Did anyone see a KC team dominated by the Eagles DL trade one of their best OL?

I did not. Same with the trading their best and top WR in the NFL at the time to the Dolphins.

Our fans distrust FO because we have not won a Super Bowl and rightly so. Are our fans watching KC and applauding their risk taking moves?

Wow.

Defense officially in a rebuild.

They have no above average players after losing Tre.

This defense could actually be worse than this past year?

Buy Cincy players in fantasy because they’ll be playing catchup all game.

If they are selling because of age this is Whit 2.0.

Tre shows zero signs of slowing down. He’ll be in his prime throughout his next contract.

Maybe the play is to get a top 5 pick and sign a defensive playmaker in free agency?

Still, big loss. Their work is cut out for them.

This could be an offense sells tickets type move too.

Sign Tee and Chase, let Tre go. Spend big on offense and make do on defense.

Could be better for ticket sales this way.

It’s night and day the difference between organizations like Philly that know how to win games—investing in the trenches.

Bengals invest in skill players but tend to let lineman walk.

Our D was garbage with Trey.

Our O was great with Chase and Tee.

I’m ok with a rebuild of the garbage part and keeping the great part together.

Cannot disagree even though history is against him. Reggie White is about the greatest outlier there is...

Trey works his ass off. Hope he sees the offers from other teams and comes back home.

He was also considering retirement last year.

I could see him retiring if he gets a big contract and then wins a Super Bowl and just riding off into the sunset.

Not Easy to replace 16 sacks and 80 pressures. Man. When Burrow leaves I am going with him. I have been through this too many times. I will go ahead and bet we STILL won't get a deal done with Tee and he will play on the Tag and not be happy.

Going to see how this plays out but I feel like I already know. Just a moron for thinking they would be different this time seeing what Burrow could do. If we do not try to win now when will we? Never is the answer.

I don't have a problem with trading Trey but I wish it didn't come down to this.

I don't trust this FO to sign the right players and draft the right players. I'm tired of the penny pinching and using outdated methods on building rosters.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Yeah! Bengals O was the 29th scoring offense in 2020. We should have traded Burrow along with his fellow garbage part of the team WR Tee Higgins.

Just like the Browns will be a whole lot better once they get rid of 4x 1st Team All-Pro/1x DPoY/future 1st Ballot HoFer Myles Garrett. After all, they had a garbage D with him.... no clue why those foolish Raiders extended Maxx Crosby, they had a garbage defense with him last year, they should have offloaded him instead.

Rolleyes

.....It's almost like a single player or two can't completely erase a lack of talent on the rest of the team surrounding them, they can only do their own job the best they can and that side of the team won't get better by getting rid of THE best player on it.

I would have waited until the trade deadline. Let's see what we have with the new coaches.

The thing is, they could have just overpaid Tee and Chase and Tre last year and fast forward to this year and it looks like quite a deal. Now their stock is up even more and they are having to pay more.

They have no clue what they are doing.

Every year there is something I can point to where they are royally screwing up.

Their top 4 players are extremely talented. You could make an argument for their top 3 being best in the league at their respective positions.

But yet they fail to lock them up despite not having anyone else noteworthy on their roster to sign. They continue to flop in the draft. It’s just ridiculous and it’s been tough to watch them take possibly the best quarterback in the league and fail to put the right pieces around him to compete for championships.

Contrast that with other coaches/organizations that are maximizing what they have (i.e. Hurts, Goff, Stafford, Mahomes, Lamar).

It’s hard to watch. The bengals Super Bowl window was two years despite the organization failing to put an offensive line in front of him those years. Then they let the defense fall apart after that and we need a rebuild on defense which means our next Super Bowl window is two years away if they don’t screw something else up.

Other organizations are maximizing their quarterbacks by building a great team around them (making their jobs easier than they have to be).

The bengals have made Burrow’s job harder than it needed to be every year—including the year (Burrow injured his knee) they were out of the playoffs and decided to throw the ball 80% of the time in meaningless games behind an offensive line with no halfway decent starters.
