I don't know why anybody would hire Tobin. He has missed seemingly often on draft prospects and free agents.  Now I will grant it that the scouting department or the Cincinnati Bengals is putrid and it puts a lot on his shoulders to find talent.  

With that said, you could pick several fans that follow the Bengals who are obsessed with free agents and drafting talent and such, and they ostensibly would make better decisions.  And have predicted some of the failures for the Bengals.

If you didn't notice the guard prices are HIGH. Fries got way overpaid and Banks got way overpaid and they both are coming off injuries so who knows.

LG really isn't improved between Volson and Ford. We're HOPING for serviceable there this year if that's who they go into the season with.

You have to wonder if the Bengals brass felt they really were like a 12-win team if they hadn't have started the season so slow last year, so they decided they didn't really need much improvement aside from 1-2 new FAs and draft picks.

If they really feel that way they're not that damn smart.

If anything reads someone potentially on their last strike, it feels like Taylor.

This feels like 2018 when Marvin had one last shot to right the ship after back to back underperforming years.
They already had let go of their OC midseason the year prior, and they replaced Guenther with Austin.

A lot was put on Marvin and the staff to actually be able to coach up the players and implement a good scheme, as the FO was not going to toss them a ton of new, expensive FAs.

This feels similar to that.
Taylor gets new positional coaches and DC to try to put up or shut up.
Prove you can coach up the players we're giving you.

While most will never understand, so far they've handled Trey correctly, imo. They knew exactly what they were doing especially in their asking price which they had a good idea no team would match. Now, to make it 100% complete they need to rip up Trey's salary and give him a 2-3 year deal with alot of cash up front. If he shows real regression this season or gets hurt or if Osaii and Murphy have monster years then they can release Trey after a year or two years and won't have him locked up long-term.

Cannot disagree with any of this Higgy. I think after testing the trade waters Trey will come back and sign the offer that we originally 
offered him which according to what I heard was 32 mil per year which is double of his current contract and he should of signed it in 
the first place. Give Ja'Marr a touch over what Garrett got and it is all good.

A Tee trade sounds possible now if he still wants 30 mil per year, steep.

I’ll give Tobin a pass far as being restricted with spending money and assume he wanted to keep Bates and the current guys resigned. But the biggest issue with this team has been drafting. After drafting Zeitler in 2012 the last good linemen we drafted after that was Mims in 2025. In that 13 year drought of not drafting good O-line we spent three first round picks ,Ogbuehi, Price , Williams , drafted two second round picks Fisher , Jackson and three 4ths D’ante Smith , Bodine, and Volson, throw in the Cody Glenn trade as well. Since 2018 we’ve fired Paul Alexander , Jim Turner and Frank Pollack and blamed them and now this 4th O-line coach is the answer ? We fired Lou and the D-line coach because they were the problem ? All we did was draft defense three drafts in a row before last year maybe the draft picks aren’t good. Chase and Burrow were easy picks. Higgins , Bates ,Wilson , Pratt sure I’ll give Tobin credit but way more misses than hits of late.

I think maybe League executives know what he is up against and may respect him. I thought when this came out it was odd that the local media acted like he'd get a GM position quicker than Zac could a HC position if both happened to be let go.  I had questions if either would. But they were quick to jump to Tobin's defense.
