I don't think so. Pay that dude. We are worthless man. I was really hoping we could've signed him to a two year deal. I'm just gonna predict another Burrow injury year now.

I hope not but even then you have to look on the bright side - more tv coverage of Brownings GF!

So Becton is out for what ever reason, must not fit what they want to run on Offense scheme wise. Teven Jenkins and another Guard please...
Becton is probably wanting big money and he's only been healthy for one season. I wouldn't pay it.

Bingo, he likely wants to be paid to the standard of his draft position, but those days are long gone, just like his time as an NFL Tackle.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I like him. I would be happy if we sgned him for 4 years, 56 million with 30 million guaranteed at signing
If he want more, I would pass. I also don't get a vote.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

He's probably gonna have to take a 2 yr deal and prove himself and then get paid big money.

4 and 56 is way to rich for my blood for him but i would pay that to Jenkins. He's a much better guard too.

Maybe.
But I would love to see the Bengals spend 18 million to get guards that competent to protect Burrow, extend his health and career, and improve the running game. Not to mention opening up the draft.
Look at it like that, and 18M is more than reasonable, maybe even on the cheap side?
Something to consider.

Oh man I had forgotten about his girlfriend but just got a mental image of that Bengals body suit she wore reading your post.

I know. It being so quiet I was like just offer him 2 yrs 20 mil. Then to see he signs a 1 yr 9 mil dollar deal. It's very depressing. I get he's 35 but he doesn't miss time and he's playing at a high level. Plus the bonus of a good story returning to the team that drafted him and maybe getting a ring.

There are other methods as well. I showed one earlier. It is below. Teams simply add voidable years to the deal and it moves the cap to later years (the voidable years). No money changes hands, it is just a method used by lots of teams to create cap room immedialtely. A way to kick the can down the road.
There are other methods as well for an initail contract or the new contracts we are creating in 2025. It all hinges on the Bengals pholosophy to decide to push more cap money into the future.
As I have pointed out, Bengals started the FA period with other 230 million dollars for 2026 which is top 4 in the league I believe. Teams like the Pats and Bear hae more, but they have spent a lot of 2025 money. That matters as Spotrac calculates the 2026 cap number on 2025 carry over + any current contracts.

The Bills have restructured defensive tackle Ed Oliver's contract, per sources. The move saves just over $10M in cap space with void years added to the end of the deal as http://overthecap.com documented.
Yea I was going to edit my post and mention possibly adding more void years to the contract, but with Burrow already having 3 void years on his contract, I feel like Bengals may not want to do more. This is the first contract they've done with more than a single void year on it, IIRC.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Not if we'd have extended Tee/Chase and done a Burrow restructure. We'd have lots more space that way.
As is, we don't have the space, most likely, for Jenkins and $9 mil for Zeitler. If he'd even want to come. Which he might not.
Scherff is still out there along with Jenkins. We really need Jenkins, though. When we cut Cappa early,,I thought we'd aggressively pursye a quality G replacement.
Oh, well.

Exactly, he was able to stay healthy and look good on a team known for great OL. Meanwhile, the rest of the world still remembers his days with the Jets.

With the way Zeitler left Cincy, I never thought him coming back was ever going to happen unless either he was going to get WAY more offered from Cincy vs other places, or if Cincy was the ONLY offer he got.

Perfect for the Bengals. They need to draft someone younger and he would be a good mentor. But it probably was a pipe dream as Pally said. Quite possible he never wanted to come back to the Bengals.

All hopes turn to next year

There is also a formula limiting the number of void years. I didn't realize Burrow already had 3 void years on his contract. I read somewhere that the maximum is 5 minus the number of years left on the contract at the time. (Don't quote me on that -- or ask me to explain it.) But seeing the contracts that Allen and Dak Prescott signed, its good the Bengals signed Burrow to the contract he is currently on when they did.

Come on, Zeit was maybe the Guard I thought the least likely and the one I wanted the least. We can do better. Step away from the ledge Nug.

Pretty ridiculous for him to want big money after only one good season.

Yep. I can understand not wanting to pay Becton a ton.

Same, I know Teven has had problems staying healthy too, but he is a better Guard when on the field than Becton.

I would too, just not Zeit who's wife didn't like Cincy and is older. Teven Jenkins, Scherff would be just fine with me.
