Nice, but does this mean we are trading Tee?

I like that Slayton has been such a productive Receiver with shitty QB play...

EDIT: Wrong Slayton. Mellow

Played ever snap basically last two years in GB. Good run stop win rate last season, PFF not a fan but my disinterest in PFF is pretty well noted. Familiarity with our DL coach so sounds like he may be the guy to beat with Jackson rotating in.

15 tackles and 1 sack last year.

Ah, the DT from Green Bay. Now I know who we are talking about lol

This is starting to remind me of the Titus Adams/Ed Hartwell dumpster dive offseasons.

EDIT:  I suppose a guy that size paired with Jackson might be a decent option on obvious run downs.  He's a large human.

Yeah I mean it looks like they almost have filled their rotation for DT.
Maybe no Nolan or Grant in the first round now?

Still good guards out there. They need to spend some $ on at least one.

I would also like Chase Young or someone on at least that level for DE.

That and at least one guard would really open up the draft for them.

Going to be like last year. Multiple signings, none good, and the team will not be better.

Yeah it's nice to have a healthy starter at NT.  Looks like they have stability at DT and can focus more on DE.

If we're done filling our DT rotation, which we might be, we're in a lot of trouble again next year.

FWIW - Slaton led the NFL in ESPNs 2024 run-stop win rate whatever that is.
Might be a good AFCN DT on early downs.
I have heard a lot of people say the Bengals need to stop the run so this should help.

Pass rush still sucks even with Trey

This is the challenge with relying on coaches to scout FA's ..... They should be presented great options from the FO. When they just get here 3 weeks ago and have to pick players they'll go with who they know not necessarily who can move the needle.

So this is a comfort signing. Will it make a difference. We'll just have to see.

Slaton's run stopping win percentage was the best in the NFL last year according to espn.

It is espn though. Nothing wrong with adding a run stopping Nose Tackle. I never trust PFF grades on Nose Tackles.

I am not sure why people expected us to move on from a 2nd and 3rd round pick after one season. We were always going to look at capable starters to rotate these guys in to let them continue to grow and play. Jenkins and Jackson both showed flashes at the end of last season at times you can't bale on that much draft capitol one year in.

Yeah they definitely don't seem like an organization trying to max out their generational qb's prime window.

Not all splash signings work out.  Many are disasters.  I just don't se a lot of urgency here.  Much more cap could have been created and better players could be acquired.

Feels a lot like the later Palmer years in Cincinnati.  Lots of disappointment following one or two years of high-end play.

Well this just opened up the draft big time IMO.

I felt DT in the first few rounds was a need for sure. Not any more.

Haven’t got to watch any highlights. I thought Green Bay had a good D last year.

My initial reaction based on his PFF grade was to throw up in mouth a little.

But leading the league in run stop win rate, a decent PFF from 2023, the fact that he played 420+ snaps on D last year (a lot for a run stuffer), and the fact the Packers apparently allowed 1 fewer YPC when he was on the field have me rethinking my vomit.

Basically this.  They found a starting NT to sign with them, knowing they could be replaced if Jackson earns it and forming a reasonable rotation at NT.
