He's been given permission to seek a trade. Nothing has materialized and I would assume one most likely will not happen. But I think it still puts him "up in the air" because he could still be traded. Even the Bengals forcing him to play the last year of his contract i would consider to be making him a question mark at this point as while he's been a professional thru this he has said pay me or trade me.

The last time a player challenged the Bengals he ended up getting traded midseason. But, he was younger and staged a walk out.
Trey can be mad and throw a temer tantrum, but he better stay professional if he wants another team to overpay the team for his services. Bengals own his contract. Bengals brought him in from Saints. He had 20 career sacks in 4 years. He missed 12 games his 2nd year in the league. Bengals gave him a huge raise and second contract.
Why are Bengals the bad guy if they choose to make a player honor his contract. Trey is not the first and won't be the last player forced to honor a deal.
But as I have said, find a team to give the Bengals a 1st and 3rd round pick and I think they would consider it. If he can't find that, maybe he is not as good as he thinks he is by other teas standards.

There is alot here that I'm not gonna touch because I just don't understand this line of thinking and it's not worth talking about. But the original point of being up in the are it seems as though there are some question marks.

Slaton was scored pretty bad against the run by PFF and he misses a ton of tackles.
That said, I don't consider Reader a good pass rusher.
And Slaton may not improve our run defense as much as people think.
I said it before and i'll say it again...we gotta get off this PFF grade shit.
After reading this post i went back and watched 3 of GBs games last year. This guy is massive, has a motor and good balance. He doesn't offer much in pass rush ability but be can push the pocket. If Al wants his DTs to hold their ground, get some push and eat up blockers, this guy is the one. He's not one of GBs scrubs. He starts. He's going to fit in well and i bet he surprises a lot of people that don't really know him and just look up his "grades".

People are calling Slaton a dominant run stuffer because of his run block win rate.
Just like Reader isn't a pass rusher, this guy won't shut down run games. He misses a lot of tackles.
5 missed tackles on the entire year.

The list is short for DT's who dominate both run and pass defense. Those guys make a lot of money like Chris Jones and others. Bengals are creating 2 roles at DT, one who dominates the run (McKinnley and Slater) and 2 guys who are not bad against the run, but hopefully if rested will get some push against the pass (Hill and Jenkins).
It makes sense to me.

I do like pff especially the ways I've seen it being used recently. But you are right and it's not the end all be all and should be used along with other factors. I saw that the run game took a noticeable hit when he was off the field but the pass defense took a noticeable hit with him on the field. That may speak to the guys around him as much as anything. I don't dislike the signing and it may help guys like Bj Hill get more pressure. I was or am just a bit confused with the two DTs (counting BJ) because this draft is so loaded at DT. We may still add 2 guards but if we don't that may have been the better direction as they're may be better value late at DT.

You may be confusing team giving Trey and his agent TO ATTEMPT to find a team that can meet the Bengals trade demands. To te Bengals, it is not up in the air as they have 100% control deciding if the offer is adequate. it appears they are asking a lot (1st round pick and more) and Trey's camp has nor found a POSSIBLE TRADE PARTNER.

So if i asked you if Trey Hendrickson will play for the Bengals this season. Your answer would 100% yes or 100% no? This is what i mean by "up in the air".

PFR has him at a 11.8% missed tackle rate.

Some just don't seem to understand the responsibilities of the NT role, or its purpose on a defense.

Khalil Herbert to the Colts?
Was really hoping to hold on to him. He played well in his time last year. Not sure on keeping Moss and letting Herbert walk.....

At this rate we need everyone young to play better and we need 4/6 rookies coming in to not only provide good snaps but we may need 3 of those 4 rookies to be damn near stars
This is probably my the dumbest way to build a NFL roster Iv ever witnessed in my life

My optimism for the upcoming season is bleak...This front office is truly clueless.
you mean the same team that won ..what six games in a row to finish out the season..with defense playing lights out..

this team was playing great the last 6 games of the season..including those rookies on the defensive line..roster is pretty much built..I would imagine the team will find a guard , defensive end and a number 2-3 receiver in the draft or FA

I'm just gonna default to what i said earlier. If Al wants a big space/blocker eater that has good balance, a motor and can get some push, this guy will be fine.
Hey, i'm a numbers guy. Just saying, sometimes people throw this and that number out there without even bothering to check someone's game.
You gotta do both.

Not really. After Moss was injured, the team needed someone to backup Chase Brown. Herbert performed that role and did what I thought was a decent job.

He was'nt a professional before last season when he wanted a raise when he was'nt eligible for one by league rules. He needs to be traded, but they're not gonna get a 1st for him so why make the trade when you could tag him twice after this season.
