I just read this article. It appears Bengals will not pursue Becton. They have interest in Jenkins. It baffles me the FO is not exploring every OG option. We do not have a starter on the roster.

Maybe, he informed us he has no interest and wants to stay in Philly.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, they aren't planning on using Ford.
Jenkins would be a good option. I don't know if they can afford him.

He only had this one last year of being a good O-lineman and he probably wants to be paid big for it. Teven is better by a far margin IMO.
Teven Jenkins and Brandon Scherff and we can draft a Guard like Ratledge in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I just went over the top 100 FAs available on nfl.com.
None of those guard options look very good.
Jenkins was let go and replaced by the Bears, who desperately needed oline help.
That tells me something right there.
Why would they give up on a young guard if he’s any good?
Becton is injury prone and has only had one decent year in a run heavy offense.
I think they sign some lesser known guards and hit the position in the 2nd/3rd round.
Jenkins could sign here though. I’m not going to get my hopes up that he’ll be good though. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I just saw Jenkins played LG in 2024, but has played both. Joe needs to stop the camoaigning for the guys under contract and urge the team to fix the OL now. Fix the OL and improve defense in 2025 and we will win. Winning takes over a locker room, not guys getting paid a bunch of more money.

Nothing is as reliable as a Ford (Cody).

My concern with Jenkins is his injury history. He has missed 21 games (and parts of 5 more) in 4 years due to injury. That's a lot of games missed and he misses four or five every year. It's not like he had one big injury that kept him out a season.
I suppose the Bengals could afford him and hope he does better on the injury front, but we don't want another playoff run without our key OL.

getting a good player on a discount due to injury history is a move the bengals love to make
unfortunately

Sign 2 Guards, fix the defense, and force the 3 unhappy players to play and produce. #PlanA

Yes, Teven can play LG or RG which is nice. Yeah I don't understand not campaigning for a better OL and a better Defense over
guys that are going to be here anyways. The Defense was the reason we did not win as much as we should of last season, but
that could of been more on coaching than just the players.
I understand wanting Tee here as he really helps when he is healthy, but the trenches are where you win games first and foremost
as we saw with the Eagles.

That is the concern with Teven Jenkins, but if we added Scherff as well it would be a good bumper for us.

I’m just not convinced Jenkins will be better than Ford or Volson.
If he were why wouldn’t the bears retain him? He’s only 26!

Well a lot on here put so much stock in PFF grades and Jenkins have been significantly higher than both Ford and Volson's.
Cannot just say, he was on the Bears and their OL sucked. Another reason to sign him is he is still young as you note.

Scheme fit is an important factor. They may not see Becton as a fit for what they want to run. Or he interviewed poorly during the draft process years back. Or injury history has scared them off. Or, Becton may be exploring options at T first which would be a significantly better contract than a G.
Players are not one size fits all.

Pickings are getting slim. He may not be an upgrade to them.

I’d go Scherff and Risner and look to draft a couple of mid-late round guards to develop (may need a trade back or two to acquire sufficient picks to allow that).
I like the sound of Luke Kandra in particular. Doesn’t give up much pressure (under 2% pressure rate) and only gave up 2 penalties in his entire college career. Being local and a team captain which they love the Bengals should be well aware of him.

Becton is on record saying he wants to stay in Philly.
So I guess we should assume his frist choice is Eagles are cheap and unwilling to pay him?????
Some Bengal's fans go to, it has to be because the Bengals are cheap.

I have to admit I’m a little nervous about Jenkins. His pff grades look ok. Better than what we’ve had, which is a low bar to be sure. But if they weren’t willing to trust him to protect their franchise quarterback then why should we? Especially on a big contract.

They traded for Joe Thuney. That's why they let Jenkins walk. He's the best LG in football. Of course you oet him go when you have Thuney. Yeesh.
