"Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done
#61
Even though the team is still not better than last year and there is still a lot left to do, this would be spectacular. I want both of these guys to retire as Bengals.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

I guess if you ignore his signing bonus and his 15,8 million dollar salary you are correct.  Smirk

What are you talking about? At worst for Trey, he'll be back and playing out his existing contract.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

He is still under contract but FWIW, when discussing Tee and Ja'Marr on NFLN, Rapaport and Pelissaro also mentioned that Trey and the team were talking again

All hopes turn to next year

I agree on paper we are not better than last year, also not worse either. I agree work to be done in the trenches. We got our Reader replacement in m opinion with Slayton. I feel the combo of Murphy, Ossai, Sample (lost all of 2024) and 2nd year Johnson is better than Hubbard.

I also think Bengals DB's need to figure out a way to stay healthy. The Turner and Hill losses were huge. Rankins was a dud before he was injured and. Cappa killed our offense as did LG.

If we can imrove the guard play, our offense could takes steps closer to best offense in the NFL in yards, T.O.P and points. I would take top 5 in all categories,

I don't think he will. He wants more money, and if he doesn't get what he wants I think he will refuse to play.

IDK, there's already been a report posted that the team is back in talks with Trey and his agent. So there is that.

Based on?

Trey has huffed and puffed about his contract before, but when push came to shove, he reported to TC and balled out.

Yeah, he’ll play. $16 million is $16 million.

It will be interesting. No team is close to paying 2 wrs 70 million a year.

I think he has more leverage now. After leading the league in sacks last year, he will probably get the money he wants elsewhere. For the second year in a row Trey's unhappy with his contract, think about that. Yeah last year he reported to TC, but I'm not sure he's willing to be underpaid again this year. I think he will be traded at some moment.

Yeah, that is a high percentage of cap to have tied up in WR, but if they solidify the line it might pay off.
