"Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done
Next week might be the best this franchise has had since the second week of February, 2022.

Yep

I can't remember his name, but also a big time safety only to have him re-sign with 49ers I think. He may have played at Ohio State.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

Inching closer seems to be true, problem is 50 yards take a ton of time to cover only 1 inch at a time.
I don't care if it's 1mm at a time as long as they cross the goal line. Looks like this is a done deal, now I hope they turn their attention to free agency and get at least 1 guard, hopefully 2. They have to have a plan since they cut Cappa, they wouldn't of cut him if they weren't going to try to upgrade that position would they, unless they were just trying to free up some cash. I have a feeling they are going to try and roll with Volson because there has been talk inside the organization that the new line coach can work with him and get him to be more aggressive. I don't know, have to see how it that plays out. Trey is now the big ????

I hope I live long enough. My nerves are shot. Smirk

But yes, hopefully we get this done and move on and sign at least 1 startng guard this week.

The roll with Volson is alarming to me. I think we have urgency for 2 starting guards, scares me Bengals don't share the urgency.

It alarms me too, I think they'll draft at least 1 guard in the draft.

Donte Whitner? I think this seems like is a done deal. But I will feel better once the normal guys make it official. Also curious on the structure as that will have a big part as far as what we can expect the rest of FA. Already disappointing that we let some guards sign else where with reasonable deals.

Probably thinking of Donte Whitner.

Not sure I would say reasonable deals. Lol

Well Zeitler 1yr 9mil and whoever just signed the 2yr 20 mil. Seems reasonable to me.

Becton.

And yes, the Bengals should have done both of those deals. The only real overpays at guard so far have been Fries and Banks.

Those deals plus a Chase & Tee contract might have set up Duke for a nice defensive focused draft.

Yeah i was a bit surprised at the bj hill resigning and the Slayton addition. Not that I dislike the moves but this draft is deep at DT. We've kind of handcuffed ourselves to not double dip there even if there is good value late. I also really don't like the idea of going into the draft needing 1 guard let alone 2. We've all seen the runs that happen there and leave us reaching for a player that should be taken much later.

Still "inching"?

Finalizing?

K. I'll check back next weekend.

We still need a pass rushing DT and could use another quality DE. 2 DL in the draftcwould not surprise me at all.

Though Za'Darius Smith and his 10 sacks are still out there, I think.

But some combo of Trey, restructuring Joe (if Mike has the cash), and upgrading G has to becthe priority now.

We probably had enough $$$ to go Jenkins + Scherff before. Now we should have enough and still have a cusion after. Assuming $16 for Jenkins and $7 for Scherff.

But good news on Tee and Chase. A year late or a week late, and more expensive because of it, but at least it is done.

I heard Tee is on a private jet back to Cincinnati so I would expect an announcement of a signing at any moment.

I like Za'Darius Smith and think he would make a good addition to the roster but we might need to wait until after the draft before we add any more guys to the defensive line.  What if we pick up a DT and a DE in the first couple of rounds?  Would we have any room on the roster?  especially if Hendrickson is extended.  In a draft that is deep on the defensive line I think we take a DT and DE

Zeitler was never gonna come back here.
Becton was a bust until last year. He doesn't fit with our system so 10M a season is unreasonable.

No, they were right to not do those deals. Becton has been a bust, last year was his only decent year.
Zeitler wasn't ever going to sign a contract to come here
