Golden Needs D Picks
#1
The Bengals Defense was one of worst in NFL the last 2 seasons.  I'm hoping most of the Draft is Defense.  Bengals have to give Golden some good young talent out of college.  Unless this Defense improves, Bengals will jeep missing The Play-Offs.  Bengals Defense gives up more points than Burrow or any offense can score.

There better be a huge focus on Defense.  In rebuilding Tampa and Indy into powers, Tony Dungy always said he needed to add Speed On Defense, from front Line to the DB's.  Slow Defenses don't cut it, Bengals need some college players that can Fly to The Football and Gang Tackle.  11 players working as one quick and fast solid unit.

Who are the Big and Fast D Linemen and LB's ?  Who are the fast and good DB's ?  Bengals must at least try to fix this stinking, awful defense if they hope to get back to Play-Offs.

Looking at where Bengals draft in 1,  it looks like Best Available Athlete might be a Defensive End.  I think Hubbard retired and Hendrickson is in question, which would make a bad Defense even worse.  One of the good Defensive Ends in Round One makes sense.  Start rebuilding this awful Defense.

For example Mykel Williams of Georgia has the Size and Speed to be an instant help at Bengals Defensive End if on the board when Bengals draft.  If not him, give Golden some good young players on Defense.

The title of your post is funny but I do agree Golden needs some good D picks. Golden needs a DT that can pass rush and a DE that can pass rush. The Bengals struggled with the pass rush last year and we are bringing those same guys back switching out Rankins for Slaton who doesnt provide any pass rush.

As for other positions, another LB would help as would a safety. Depending on who is there when they pick, I could see the Bengals using their fist 4 rounds on defense. If they dont go defense the first 4 rounds, I would guess they would pick up a guard with one of those picks.

I would make the counter argument that IF you believe that ossai finally figured it out, and we’re getting back cam sample, that de is better in terms of pass rush than it was last year, but we definitely still need improvement. The glaring weakness is pass rushing DT and guards.

True Ossai could finally be showing the pass rushing ability the Bengals drafted him for.  We wont know for sure until this coming season so there is some uncertainty there so I think the Bengals still look at DE during the draft.  They may not draft a DE but I bet they take a look depending on who is sitting there when their draft pick(s) come up.

Not only should they be Defensive, they should also have Intelligence and Character

Tony Dungy was like Burgess Meredith in Rocky.  " Ya' need speed.  Speed is what you need.".   Often the Bengals are too slow getting to the play on defense, and why they give up more points than even Burrow can score.  As Paul Brown use to say, 11 men playing as 1 unit and flying to the football. Hey, look at how that worked for Philly Eagles. Speed on defense from sideline to sideline makes you dangerous.  They brought in Golden, now give him some young talent to try to fix this thing.
