I think the poor draft in OL & defense falls on Pollack & Lou. I think it’s a consensus from Doug, Zac, and the coordinator/position coach. But when there’s not they rely on Zac on offense and Lou on defense. I personally think it factored in Lou’s demise.

Cappa was hurt. He got signed quickly so his agent convinced the Raiders he’s not the ‘24 guy. But they’d better draft better on defense and OL going forward. I think the new OL coach Scott Peters knows what he’s looking for. I don’t think Pollack was technical nor did he know what type of lineman he wanted. They need cohesion matching the scheme to the strengths of the lineman. I don’t think that existed. I think Peters thinks between drafting one and working with Volson,Kirkland, and Ford he can make it work.

Cappa gave up 35 QB pressures in 2023. What he also hurt in 2023?

Would you rather have (Name your FA)/ Cody Ford as your guards with Pollack still as coach

or

Ford and Volson/mid-round pick with the new Oline coach

There is more hope with a new OL coach. My concern is we have 2 open guard spots. It is very eary and I think at a minium prior to the draft they sign a vet with a much better hirstory than what our guards produced in 2024.

But yes, I hope the new coach sees the flaws and has a plan to fix the OL.

He was slightly better lol. #60 in pff guard pass blocking Volson #100 lol
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Brandon Scherff is still available.

Some ppl think we wont trot into 2025 with Cvolson and CFord starting…

PFF scores on the DT we signed. Not accurate. PFF sucks.

PFF scores for Guards...Volson sucks. Cappa sucks. We need someone with a better PFF score!

They'll get a Guard somehow. Either draft or they'll wait until 1 is left and get a value contract.

PFF scores should never ever ever ever ever ever be used to evaluate a player until the only ones grading them are former players and/or coaches who actually know what they are looking at.

He got benched for Ford this season.

He isn't starting next season. That being said, Ford shouldn't be starting either. Both are replacement level players.

My OP was candid, I only used PFF as it a MEASUREMENT TOOL AND STATED IT IS NOT THE END ALL.

As for your comments, I think most of us have enough expiernce watching games to either quantify or disqualify PFF scores. I admit I have never qatched Slayton so yes I use PFF and others who have watched him to form an opinion. It appears he is an abover average to very good run stopper and 2 down DT due to lack of pass rusing ability.

I made comments on Cappa due to wacching him every game and statistics and PFF. PFF verified what I saw, Cappa was our worst guard in 2024 and giving up 35 QB pressures or over 2 per game in 2023, he was a liability for us in 2023 and 2024 blocking for our franchise QB. Was it injured in both 2023 and 2024? Maybe, I have no way of knowing but in the end does it matter, he under produced for a OG set to make over 10 million dollars in 2025, thus he was rightfully cut.

May be true, but it has not been reported by ESPN nor NFL.com as of a few minutes ago. It appears a Lions fan posted it on Instagram. Not sure if poster LionsAllIn is legit or not.

ARMAND MEMBOU from Missouri they may have to swap picks and move up to get him. But he’s a G/T. Ford & OBJ played next to each other and won the Joe Moore award as best OL in CF. They work great together. They like Ford. That could be an OL that’s fixed for 2 years. MEMBOU can move to tackle with injury. He’s the best OL at both run/pass in awhile. They can get a LB in the second. I’d expect Pratt is out.

whos Carter? We let that guy go last yr, he was a complete strike out
IMO we need one of the better pass rushers available at #17, one that already has moves and skills and can produce right away VS the Myles Murphy project picks they
for some odd reason gravitate to as high picks. Mike Green comes to mind as top choice

Seeing Trey paired with another force on other side would be fun to watch

I actually agree on the Guards.

I just think that overall as a DT, Slayton will be disappointing. His run defense grade was actually pretty low by PFF too.

His Run Defense Grade was 45 which was 157/219 DT's. - T.J. Slaton | Cincinnati Bengals DI | NFL and PFF stats

PFF may be wrong, but they're not drastically wrong to the point of him being one of the best Run Defending DT's in the NFL and ranked that bad.

Where he excelled was Run Block Win Rate. Which just means he advances his position.

Ha I meant Jackson I guess. I’ve slept since then. I think G & LB are their top targets

It is a lot easier to grade Guards than NT's as well. Nose Tackle's job is to take up blockers so others can tackle the RB or get to the QB.

Still don't understand why Pistons is using PFF ratings to say Slaton is a bad player.

I'm not necessarily saying he's a bad player. I'm countering people saying that he's an elite run stopper.

I don't think we're getting some elite run stopper.

But, he's likely better than the Lawrence Guys we signed off the street. He's also not DJ Reader.

Cool, just happy we finally addressed the NT position besides drafting McKinnley Jackson. I like that we now have a player for him to learn
behind so McKinnley can develop. We all know it was a bad move signing Rankins to replace Reader, completely different players who play
different positions.

I think Slayton will be good in a rotation. The lack of pass rush is kind of concerning. Although he does get some pressures here and there.
