Or maybe it was a 2026 1st. Technically true, but not likely in the spirit of what the Bengals were actually wanting.

Marco earned that deal. He played pretty well.

They need to be busy today. Lots of work left to do. Many critical positions yet to be addressed.

Bengals are re-signing cornerback Marco Wilson to a one-year, $1.52 million deal. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

I mean, we had to get that done before he was off the market. CB6 is a desperate need, after all!

PFF:
M. Wilson: 43.5
Fries: 86.9

Priorities people! With Cody Ford and Volson, we are set! Burrow does not need protection! Who needs a run game.

Wilson is replacement level/fringe roster guy. If we draft a CB, he'll be PS with Davis.

Justin Reid is still out there. He might be the only one left that would move the needle somewhat for me. Zeitler would be a 1-2 year stopgap that could help. If he even would sign here

RG targets: Zeitler, Becton, Scherff.

I'm thinking Zeitler, unless his wife's alleged negative comments about Cincinnati are preventing him from coming back.

I know we know they badly need a guard or two but does the Bengals FO know that they need a guard?

Just give Becton a bunch of $ and get a good starting guard.

The best way to summarize this off-season, so far, would be if I told my wife Friday night:

I’m going to clean the kitchen and do all of the dishes and laundry too.

And my wife looks at me and says: you’ve never done all of those things how are you gonna get those done this weekend?

And I come back and say well I’m gonna start right away and get it done.

And then she says, but I’ve never seen you do all that before.

And I say well that’s not true. Remember that one time? remember? I did all of the dishes! Remember?.

Well, today is now Saturday morning, and yes, the empty dirty dishes were placed in the sink, but nothing is cleaned, and not a single load of laundry has been folded

Like the NT they got and linebacker. The Guard and edge market are drying up. Signing a stop gap guard then trading Hendrickson for a 2nd rd. pick that Tobin will likely butcher doesn’t sound ideal. At this point they need to keep Hendrickson and sign a guard quickly. Loosing the NFl Sack leader and not signing a legit guard will make this team worse.

This off-season is starting off spectacularly bad.

In no way is any part of this team improved. The defensive line is still a mess, we have 3 unhappy super stars, and we currently dont have a starting guard on the roster. All while tier 1, 2 options are pretty much gone.

What in the actual **** is going on?

We can't replace Trey with a first round pick. We can't replace Trey with a DE for his 15,800 base salary in 2025. I know fans want to hate on the Bengals, but the team has the 30 and soon to be 31 DE under a very team friendly contract.

As I said earlier, there is the team, the player and the fans. Bengals fans mostly side with the player. I suggest fans look at this from a team standpoint. The same fans upset the team has not locked up Tee and Chase for 4 or 5 years are crying like a 2 year old we are not signing the free agents they want.

A fan of the team needs to be impartial and realize the team has all 3 guys locked into 2025. Do I want them to extend Chase? Yes, I do. Higgins is an expensive luxary a great QB like Burrow should not neet, just as MaHomes did not need Tyrek Hill. Trey wants a new contract. Would he take a ay cut if he did not play well in 2024 or was injured? My guess is no and way.

I think every fan realizes we need a guard or 2 as much or more than we need Tee Higgins. We need a proven DE/Edge to rush the passer on 3rd and long. Murohy, Assai or Johnson may be that guy, but they have yet to prove it. Trey is a great pass rusher and mediocre against the run. He is not Garrett or Watt, not even close.

The team could have Trey play on his current contract and then franchise tag the 31 going on 32 year od. His AVG per year would be 21 million a year. It would be a grand gesture to allow Trey to be traded for only a 1st round pick. He would be great for Tee and his new team and very bad for the Bengals in 2025. Do fans care about 2025, if so they would hope Trey plays on the current contract.

Wait he was one of the guys they threw out there when everyone else was hurt, right?

Yep. He played okay in his time. Seems like a solid CB5/6.

Not sure I'd spend 1.5 million dollars on CB5/6, but what are you gonna do?

No one is talking about the franchise tag for Hendrickson. IMO I agree with you, its the smartest thing they can do. Make him play on his current contract and then tag him next year.

In all reality, though - that would piss Trey off to the max.

You do realize the league minimum is 840K and the guy was active on game day last year. I thought he player well for a low end paid CB.

A 5/6 CB becomes a 3/4 CB with 2 injuries. We saw that in 2025 so adding depth cheap is smart in my humble opinion.

base salary would be 1.1 m regardless, don't think 1.5 is overpaying

min. goes up with service, so he is like 1.1 m now

He has an option, find a team to give us multiple draft picks in 2025 with at least 1 being a #1.

He can be pissed off but is not like he can just stop performing. He is still playing to be paid in 2026.

Do you think Bengals FO is not running the numbers with keeping current contract and tag him in 2026? They would be not doing their due diligence if they did not.

I understand he is 1.1 million. But, the best they could do to replace him is with a rookie who makes the league minimum.
