Maybe closer to $10,000,000

Not gonna be anything close to 10.....Aaron Banks is worse than Jenkins and he got like 4 and 77

This is a pretty tricky situation here. I trade him no matter what if I can get a 1st or early to mid 2nd rounder in this years draft.
I wouldn’t extend him under any circumstance. His value will never be higher.
As bad as the publicity would be, I’d make him play his contract out. However, I only go that route if we improved the roster enough to be contenders and we haven’t improved it AT ALL so far.
So, my hope is we get a premium pick, and bolster the roster somehow and move on.

Just think if we had Tee, Trey, and Chase locked up and Joe restructured, we'd have more cap space AND be a more desireable FA destination.

We should trade Burrow and Chase, too. Their value will never be higher.
Who needs great players when you can get a draft pick? A bird in the hand is worth less than potentially a bird in the bush, as the saying goes. If we get really lucky we can turn those draft picks into an MVP candidate, Triple Crown WR, and Sack Title DE!

Joe doesn't need to restructure for the 5000000th time. The FO just needs to change how they do business and contracts.

There is no realm where Jenkins is better than Banks.

Every FA ranking site I have seen has Jenkins rated considerably higher (ESPN, NFL COM, PFF). Jenkins' PFF grades are better. And Banks blew out his knee late in the year.
You have it precisely backwards, IMHO.

He offered to publicly. And $19 mil in cap space could have yielded a top notch G, S, LB, CB, or Josh Sweat.
It would have been helpful, yes? You don't think it would have helped?

He doesn't need to because if you would've watched the videos of people who know what they're talking about breaking it down......it can be done without joe doing anything.

Not anymore. The Bengals didn't maximize cap space with their contracts. For example TJ Slaton will have a bigger cap hit in 2025 than Osa Odighizuwa.

While true he hasn't, he still played 10+ games each season for the past 3 years.
He'd still be potentially under 30 total pressures and 6 total sacks, which is solid for a Guard.
Better than the two guys they had last year, at least.
Volson 2024 - 8 sacks allowed, 43 total pressures allowed on 984 snaps.
Cappa 2024 - 8 sacks, 51 total pressures allowed on 1132 snaps
Add in Cody Ford 2024 - 5 sacks allowed, 37 total pressures allowed on 688 snaps.
Teven Jenkins 2024 - 4 sacks, 17 pressures allowed on 738 snaps.
Project that out to 1100 snaps, he'd be around...6 sacks, 25 total pressures.
I'm not saying he's a stud, but he's better than what they had, which is an improvement.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Given those numbers, Jenkins does offer a better overall protection rate.
Jenkins gives up pressure on 3.4% of snaps
Volson gives up pressure on 4.4% of snaps
Cappa gives up pressure on 4.5% of snaps
All 3 give up sacks under less than 1% of snaps.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

His true pass set pressure rate is even better relative to Cappa and Volson.

And would have saved plenty of money compared to signing all 3 of them at this later stage and could have used that additional savings to fill other needed holes like, say, G.

Banks is the better player, all things considered.
Everyone has this obsession with Jenkins, he's not a bad player at all and I would be more than happy to get him in at LG over Volson, but people really need to throw PFF out of the equation. I get that OL is hard to evaluate, but not watching games to rely on others is the true burden in player evaluation (I know, not everyone has time to watch games).

They also would have had much more clear vision of their cap status going into free agency this week. Unless there are firm handshake deals behind the scenes we don't know about, and I hope there are, it's all a cloudy mess right now imo until it's resolved in contracts.

Give me two of these guys and I'm happy.
1. Brandon Scherff: 4.5%
2. Kevin Zeitler: 6.0%
3. Teven Jenkins: 6.4%
T4. Will Hernandez: 7.1%
T4. Mekhi Becton: 7.1% (only 2024 snaps at OG)
6. Dalton Risner: 8.0%
