{The Ultimate Bengals Offseason Extravaganza Thread}
Feels like the Bengals are painting themselves into a corner when it comes to the draft.  Defensive Line or nothing.

He isn't going to sit out unless he just outright retires. His age makes it a now or never deal for him.

I would add Trey would be an idiot to do anything showing he is disgruntled. He will be a fre agent on 2026 unless team extends him, a 32 year old free agent seeking one last big deal.

Fines
Week 1 would be 313,000.
Week 2 would be 350,000 or more than Trey's 17 game weekly pay.

Trey will not hold out and get fined to prove a point, it is too costly. In addition to the fines, no show starting game 1 = 15,800 million divided by 17 in additional lost income.
Trey will do the same thing we would do when we ask for a raise and the boss denies our request. We show up to work and attempt to do a great job so next time we get the raise.

I want the Bengals to give Trey a raise. My hole polint is from a FO perspective he is under contract and far down the pecking order. The Bengals need to lock up Chase, decide on whether to extend Tee or trade him, find at least 1 OG and 1 DL in free agency. Last is Trey's request for a new contract. The team will have a better idea of their finaancial position after all of the moves I mentioned. So, no team should not bee n urgency mode to extend trey because he asked.

There's no fines for holding-in. Or from having a soft tissue injury on Day 1 of mandatory camp.

I am not sure I understand. It appears to me our biggest weakness is not close, it at OG. I would say Edge/DE is next, then safetty.

now heading to NY to visit the Gants.
It would be hilarious for the Browns to have Wilson and Pickett as their QBs

All hopes turn to next year

We have $23.4 mil in cap space.

Now, once the season starts, and you count all 53, the Practice Squad, the 1st rounder signed, and whatever cushion/IR costs, it will be practically lower.

Of course, a Tee/Chase deal and/or a Burrow restructure would open up more.

But, say $16 for Jenkins and $7 for Scherff would be $23. We'd be tapped out pending something on the Big 3 front/restructures, or more cuts. Or a creative contract with Jenkins that has his cap significantly below APY salary.

Give jenkins 4 and 60 with a 19 million signing bonus this year with a cap hit of 1 million and then go 12.5 the following 2 years and then make the last year a team option for 15 million.

I think they can still salvage this offseason by adding a decent guard and a couple of complimentary pieces. The major "if" here is the draft, which is becoming critical to upgrading the defense.

For us, I believe that is Burks and Ossai.

Only 6 picks this year and no compensatory picks.

The defense upgrade was always going to come in the draft. And now we have to add safety to the list.

Guards we need and we can still get and they have to lock up one of the big 3. FA can’t be graded yet.

For the record wrote in stone. THIS is the product of the dead cat bounce we always argue about fearing after the 2-5 start. Remember that if this ever comes up again (hopefully not).

It’s not only about blowing the high pick, its also about forgetting the stench.

Bengals FO forgot the stench. They feel close. Closer than  they looked week 1-11.

Going to have to do a trade back at some point or trade Tee for some picks. I agree with Samhain that we can still salvage this
Offseason if we can bring in a Guard and have a good Draft. Ja'Marr's deal will get done eventually and Trey will be back so the
team isn't that far off with Joe Burrow and the new coaches that were brought in IMO.

So bengals having a crazy asking price for their star? Well no shit.

Brian Burns got traded last year after an 8 sack season and was franchise tagged. The panthers got #39 and moved up in the 5th swapping places and a 5th for 2025 draft. He has had double digit sacks once in his career. And they had to give him a giant contract.

They are going to be stubborn and not give him away for cheap. And I don’t blame them.

If only Trey's agent hadn't shot off his mouth about being confident that he was able to get whatever the Bengals were looking for...

This Trey situation can go up til the draft. There’s no reason to give him away. Tweak his deal and give him 32 for this year (he’s already in the books cap wise so it won’t be as bad of a hit) and a promise not to tag him next offseason to get him to show up for training camp.

His agent must be a dumbass. First last year asking for an extension or trade right before the Draft when Trey couldn't be extended
and now doing what you say here.
