Is Germaine Pratt salvageable?

This defense had some disgusting plays last year.  Here's one where the defensive line had nothing to do with it.
CB misses tackle, LB misses tackle, S misses tackle.

Yeah, there was plenty of material for the front office to use as exhibits to support their decision, during Anarumo's exit interview.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Amen.

I am skeptical about a new coach or coordinator being able to turn sh!te into shinola, water into wine, or molehills into mountains. Look at NE's OL last year with Peters, they stunk.

But I am a believer in a coach being able to get more out of a player, and the collective, than a previous coach. Be it through better communication, less ego, less rigidity, etc.

Especially so when the player in question has a history of good performance (Pratt, Stone) and/or has good physical tools and a good work ethic (Murphy, Ossai, Jenkins, Jackson, Heyward, D. Hill, Turner, Mims, Iosivas, C. Brown, All).

I am less optimistic on the guys with lesser physical tools (Volson, Battle), lower work ethics (Battle), or who seem kinda knuckleheaded sometimes (Pratt, CTB).

Burton is in a whole nother category.

Pratt has marks on both sides.

Yikes... CTB tackling high again. Wilson runs great but he is catching a WR. Stone, well he just sucked.

The funny part is Mahomes got zero calls in the SB and got CRUSHED. He was bred to be slaughtered, all calls every game except the SB.

He got late hit once and he got up, complained, and almost immediately stopped - like he knew, this was supposed to happen.

That’s why you can’t do something dumb like pushing him unnecessarily. You know he gets calls and does flop. Why wouldn’t he, if he’s getting the calls? So dumb of Ossai and was happy someone called him out.

1000% ..although it would be pretty cool if Burton got his act to get her because he could be a very good receiver

I waste little capital on burton, he seems like awaste, pratt is at least a player to count on, he stays healthy plays hard, needs refining so i keep him unless cap hit to bengals is too much.

I just don't think Germaine fits Golden's Defense as much as he did Lou's and he wasn't good in Lou's Defense the last couple of years.

This is true, but I think Pratt's interview where he was saying "quick quick" and they "didn't miss any tackles", but they missed like 15 that game, with half of them being his probably, was hypocritical of himself. Can call someone else out, but nobody called him out lol.

I think that Burton does not even realize he is in the league and playing professional football at times

I think that Pratts head was not in the game occasionally regardless on whom is running the defense..but we will see and hope for the best

Which isn't a good thing either. I say trade the guy and add a mid to late round pick if we can get something for him.
