Draft Day 2025!!!
#21

I would love it, but odds are they won't find a trade partner. It takes another team wanting something very badly to give up draft picks.

I think the sweet spot is around 90 overall great propects, outside of round 1, as of now we would only get 2 players from that group. That makes are chances of success in round 3 and beyond very dicey.

I would be happy with either one of them. If Banks or Warren fell to us, I think FO may have to take one of them and adjust their plan for defense to later rounds.

Yeah dan hoard did a podcast with him a couple of weeks ago. It was interesting hearing some insights on the drafts he was involved with the Bengals. Interesting looking back at those drafts and seeing not only how good we did but how close they were to being great without unfortunate injuries. He also said when he was with the Steelers he watched five snaps of Ray Lewis and stopped the tape to tell Dick Leabue he had to see this guy. Also interesting how much Mike Brown is involved and how excited he is for the draft. Said he's talking about it the moment the season ends. Probably a bit of our downfall is putting too much stock in draft picks so perhaps not all that shocking.

There is only one direction.

We have had Burrow, Chase, Higgins and keep missing play-offs. Why ?  One of Worst Defenses in NFL.

Let's get back to yelling GO DEFENSE and Back In Play-Offs.

What is different from 2021 and 2022 good teams.  No more star DT.  No more Bates Motel.  Less top DB's.  Other than Hendrickson, less pass rush.  Weaker at LB.  Weaker across board from 2021 and 2022.   So Draft and Reload.

Golden finds the cupboard bare on coming in here.  The only direction is to reload on Defense, Defense and More Defense.  Because the Bengals stink on Defense the last 2 seasons. Paying all this money to Burrow, Chase, Higgins means nothing if they do not try to add quality Defense in this Draft.

They Pick 17th in 6 rounds. and most or all should be Defense at D line, LB and DB, for the D is that bad.  There are interesting D Line, LB and DB's that look to be on the board around Pick 17 in each round.  This D could get locked and loaded, and that's the only way you win the AFC North and try to go Super Bowl, with a strong Defense.

GO BENGALS...Go OFFENSE, but also GO DEFENSE....Back To Play-Offs.

I like Banks. I also think Simmons would be very intriguing if he is there as he's played guard and he might be the best tackle when healthy. If it's defense I really like Nolan and Harmon. I like Nolan more as an overall player but a guy like Harmon might create enough chaos that he really helps guys like Ossai and Murphy excel. I'd also be fine with either safety or Jihad although not sure how much he would play this year. Not really liking the DEs that are projected to be there outside of Mike Green but with the red flags I'm just not sure alot of scary guys like Stewart or Mykell that I think will set us back and i hope are gone before our pick.

We never met with Jihaad Campbell which usually says he is not going to be the pick. We met with Emmanwori, but he is pretty big to play FS in
Stone's place even though I think he could. Starks makes more sense as he is more of a pure FS that we could put next to Battle. If we go Guard
in the first it would have to be in a trade back and adding someone we met with, we didn't meet with Banks who probably could play Guard.

Wouldn't be against trading back and adding Donovan Jackson or Tate Ratledge if we want to go Guard early.

If Tyler Warren somehow falls to us I again believe he is BPA regardless of position and I would take him at 17 and think about DL and Guard in
the 2nd and 3rd. Exciting day to say the least! Cool

The question is what would Marvin have done with Joe Burrow.

Yes but we need to protect Burrow and give him time. I agree this draft should and most likely will be defense focused. But I want an OL in Rd 1 because they always go fast and picking 17 in Rd 2 we could be left out if there is a run early day 2 after more than expected go Rd 1. I also think an OL in rd 1 opens the door for later rd trade backs. But I know we desperately need a difference maker on defense so if the right one is there at 17 I'll be happy with that. A trade back in 1 is my real hope as we can get the most capital in return.

Well i don't think Lewis would've been as bad as Zac in 2019 so we probably never get him. Not saying he would've been miles ahead of him but better than 2-14. But if we just say hypothetically Lewis had Burrow i think it's an impossible question to answer. I do think Burrow > Zac as far as our offense success so I think the answer would largely fall on who would have our OC have been.

I bet he would of stayed out of the way of Joe and the Offense. Marv treated Carson pretty well early in his career and for the most part IMO.

Our Linebackers would probably of been even worse and we probably wouldn't of picked Logan Wilson if Marv was around still.

Marv could draft Defense, besides LB which was ironic him being a former LB and all.

Yes exciting day and really only a few guys I don't want. I think Simmons would be good value at 17 and I have heard we did meet with him. With reports of being ahead of schedule in rehab I doubt he is there at 17 but if we want a guard who can take over at tackle in a couple years he's my pick. I would also love to add picks so if we trade back and get Donavan Jackson or Ratledge like you said while adding a day 2 pick that would set us up to have a very good draft in my opinion.

I just don't think we are going OL in Round 1 even if we trade back. About the only Guards we met with were Donovan Jackson, Ratledge and
Savaiinaea and they are pretty much 2nd to 3rd rounders by what everyone is saying. Expecting Defense today or BPA. We met with Walter Nolen
a lot, think he is the pick or Mike Green who was the best pass rusher in the Nation last season. Both are great pass rushers and that is what we
need desperately after Trey.
