So far, my main criticism of Francona is that it appears that he did not watch one single Reds game last year before taking the job.
It also appears that he did not watch one single Reds game from last year after taking the job.

This Reds team is not a contender, but a pretender. Inconsistent hitting and poor relief pitching, lately. Blown game after game, and can’t win the low scoring games.
Will be lucky to finish at .500. Almost made it into June while still in the race.

Another game where they had a 4 to 5 run lead on the Cubs (which should be a win 95% of the time), only for the bullpen to get pummeled into submission.

You act like they're 20+ games out like the Rockies. Cubs are one of the best hitting teams in baseball so even a 4-5 run lead shouldn't feel too safe especially at GABP. Yes it sucked losing 2 games after having a decent lead in both but i think that's too much of an overreaction.

Well said, and Thank You. The fact is the First Place Cubs showed why they are in First Place. They can flat out hit from top to bottom in that batting order. The good news is Reds didn't get swept, they won Saturday, and they filled Cincinnati GABP with fans as Reds made a ton of money over Holiday weekend.
Now the Kansas City Royals. I don't know if Reds can get to 30 wins end of May, but give it the best shot. Some wins over Kansas City still would give Reds a good record going into June. Anybody that has ever had to work and reach monthly quotas will get this when I say, finish the last days of May with some wins against Royals and be around 30 wins going into June.

You're labeled a sour ***** is because ALL you do is complain. You've been called out in the past as someone that only posts when they lose. After you get called out, you usually try to post positive comments and it comes across as awkward and kind of creepy.
You stated yourself, you're not happy with being average and then label them as pretenders lucky to finish .500. Then why put yourself through that? Believe in yourself. Stop watching and go focus on football.

I have moved onto football. The Reds will not field a playoff contender until they spend some money, and that’s not going to happen.
My comments are based on the make up and talent on this team, don’t shoot the messenger. I call it as I see it, the truth hurts sometimes.

Reds lost again? Glad i spent the entire day outside working then.
Wonder how many excuses there'll be? You know, the ones where they're not so much an excuse for the Reds but more M.O.?
Oh well. We'll get em next time!!!1!1!11!!!11!!1

Here's how it works. When you fancy yourself a contending team, you play on par with the good teams. You don't shit them away when you have a lead and/or just forget how to hit for stretches of time.
When you can't keep up with the good teams, you look for excuses...which means...you're not a good/contending team.

They got punched in the mouth, for sure. Let's see how they respond. It's still only May and they ran into a team that is smoking right now.
The Cubs from the 6th inning on for their last nine games
53 runs scored vs three runs given up.
22-0 in the three games vs the Reds so 31-3 for the previous six games . . . caught them at the wrong time. Hopefully they come down to earth as the Reds face them again on Friday.
Six games vs division opponents coming up, three more in late June vs St Louis and that's it until August 4th when they go back to Chicago.
So, unless there are rainouts or injuries, this is the upcoming rotation.
@ Kansas City
Martinez vs Lorenzen 3.77
Singer vs ??? Minor leaguer or bullpen day?
Greene vs Cameron 0.93 - 3 starts
@ Chicago Cubs
Abbott vs Rea 3.28
Lodolo vs Brown 6.39
Martinez vs Taillon 4.13
@ Milwaukee
Singer vs Civale 9.00 - 2 starts
Greene vs Peralta 2.55
Abbott vs Priester 4.23
Some strong teams coming up on the schedule after that
vs Arizona
@ Cleveland @ Detroit
vs Minnesota
@ St Louis
vs New York Yankees vs San Diego
@ Boston @ Philadelphia
vs Miami vs Colorado
All-Star break

So, another epic meltdown. I don't know what to make of this team? Seems they're just snakebit.

In all fairness, he is not the only negative Nancy. This site was negative when on Bengals, com. People only posted when Bengals lost. If Bengals won, nobody posted because they couldn't use their insults. It's a little better on this site, but not a whole lot better. Even administrators and so called hall of fame members on this site love to go negative on Bengals and Reds. In 2021 most on here said Bengals could not beat Raiders, and then Titans and then Chiefs. When somebody like me said something positive about that run to Super Bowl, we got called out as Homers. Well, I'd rather be a Homer than a Negative Nancy Pants.
As for those who say enough of the Reds, bring on Bengals. These are the same ones who will go negative on Bengals after a couple weeks and start saying tank for the next draft. So they are in a hurry to be just as Negative Nancy about the Bengals.
I give you credit for staying more positive, but we are talking to a wall on here. They are going to be negative, because it is what they do. It is what they live for, and these negatives form a cliche group and vote themselves as the best site fans as they take some weird pride in their negative comments. They are very much like Randy Quaid as the fan in Major League 2 movie who is negative all season, and the worst fan in the stands.
Just hang in there. The few of us will never talk them out of being so negative on Bengals and Reds. Just don't let them spoil your enjoying Bengals and Reds. As for those saying they are ready for Bengals, they have a long wait being Memorial Day. Of course once Bengals start, they will be quick to go negative on Bengals in their same old, same old. Don't let some on this site bring you down with their sour negative lifestyles. You go ahead and root for the Reds and Bengals, in spite of the Negative Nancy's.

Kevin is absolutely correct. We need to be more positive about this team who hasn't won a playoff series since 1995. There is no reason to be so negative all the time with an organization that rewards its loyal, longtime fans as well as the Castellinis have! Be patient guys, the end of mediocrity is on the horizon! We just gotta keep pumping that easy, free cash into the BobPhil coffers so they continue to sign quality players like Garret Hampson to get us over the hump!

Don't miss him one bit. Still as inconsistent as ever.
Martinez 24 pitches through three perfect innings. I'm interested in seeing how they screw this up.

It might not be McLain sucking and then getting better since being dropped down . . . it might just be the #2 spot.
Espinal with the day off. He was hitting .295 when he moved into the #2 spot against the White Sox. He's now hitting .263 as he's gone a shitty 9 for 47, .191 average and a .255 on base percentage. If Steer gets another hit today . . . maybe keep him there for awhile.
Perfect game ruined by the shift . . . have I ever told you how much that I hate the shift?
