Why do people believe that Golden system is going to be radically different than Lous? Al is a single high guy just like Lou was!
Many including me feel we need a vet safety

I think the Bengals are counting on Stone to get back to 2023 form especially against the pass, also Battle had a decent rookie year and is young and can improve

And like I have said repeatedly, we had so many holes to fill, imperfect solutions at some spots were gonna be a certainty. But Bell is gone and Anthony and Anderson have almost no experience back there. If either of Stone or Battle get dinged, I think we have a problem.

No. But more 43 and less nickel. More versatility out of the base guys. Especially at LB. He seems like he is gonna run the through the LBs more and the safeties less. And more man and less zone. I mean, Wilson + Burks + Knight + Carter screams that he thinks we need 4 playable LBs while Lou was fine with 3 (Wilson, Pratt, ADG + special teams guys). Pratt would be 5th. Golden has already mentioned they like Knights length and ability to set the edge and be a Vyper type. Given his lack of Edge reps, it has to be more of a run D thing. ZT and Golden both mentioned they liked Stewart's versatility (traditional DE wide, narrow over tackle, even inside). Carter looks like he can play MIKE or OLB in a 43. It just seems like he wants more versatility/unpredictability within the base group. Lou was pretty vanilla outside of Hilton/DB blitzes and spying/dropping 8 vs KC. I guess we'll see.

It relies on either the Bengals being bad enough to pick top ten, or Downs having a disappointing enough season to drop significantly. ![]() ![]()

Going back to when Bates was here, the problem with Lou seems to have been an inability to communicate with the Defense what he wants them to do in a manner that makes sense to them and lets them play fast. This is where I think Golden will be better. ![]()

Battle is a good rookie year and Stone as a veteran has had productive years, when we signed him, most rated that as a very good free agent pickup... i will really start to worry if early to mid season we don;t see improvement from last year ![]() |
