Rankings the QB's we face - worst to first
#1
I thought it might be fun to take a look at the opposing QB's we face and their ability to beat us? I'm hoping we get up near the middle of the pack on team D. So it's going to take an opposing QB and offense that can put up points (assuming our O is clicking) to beat us.

So, my take worst to first:

14. BROWNS - what a cluster **** Who knows who the starter will be? I'm just gonna guess K. Pickett but none of the other half dozen fill me with fear.

13. VIKINGS - J.J. McCarthy There's articles out there claiming he's going to light up the NFL this season. He's going to have to show me.

12 STEELERS - Another cluster. Is Rodgers going there? if he actually does they move up a bit. But Rodgers is old and a giant head case so not a lot, in my book. Otherwise M. Rudolph and that isn't a lot either.

11. PATRIOTS - D. Maye Hard to say what he is or isn't yet?

10. JETS - J. Fields I know he was handicapped in Chicago but still his ability to lift a team to the 30 point scoring even with Wilson, umm....

9. CARDINALS - K. Murray, his high TD total is 26 in 2020 and he's just never really proven he's much above average.

8. BEARS - C. Williams Had some decent games last year but nothing that screams he'll beat your ass.

7. BRONCOS - Bo Nix Overall really good season last year but I'm just hesitant to rank a guy with one year under his belt very high.

6. PACKERS - J. Love The media has been in love with him at times. I'm not convinced yet that he's a true game changer

5. DOLPHINS - T. Tagovailoa Has just been all over the map. Looks like a great one for 3 or 4 games then hits the wall a game or two. But when they're clicking he's a tough out.

4.JAGS - T. Lawrence Same as Tua

3. LIONS - J. Goff veteran QB who can beat you

2. RAVENS - L. Jackson wins regular season games galore then folds like a pup tent in playoffs

1. BILLS - Josh Allen needs nothing said

We play the Browns and Steelers twice of course so that should be at least 3 wins. Ravens, Bills, and Lions are only teams with true upper tier QB's in my book. There's 3-5 teams in the middle with bubble QB's.

I'd say we're a 12 win team based on QB's we're facing

If the Bengals defense rises to middle of the pack, statistically, then I'd say that the offense has as good of a chance at outscoring any team in the league. I think that they guys on NFL Radio have the over under for the Bengals at 10.5 wins, so I don't think that your vision of 12 wins is outlandish.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Barring injuries, Cleveland is going to start either Joe Flacco or Shadeur Sanders week 1. If they want to look like they're trying to win, they'll start Flacco. If they want to go with the QB with the highest upside and just give him the season to see if he can be a franchise QB, then it'll be Sanders. I don't see how any of the other 27 QBs they have will be starting in week 1.

Pittsburgh lost out on Rodgers. Not that I think that's a huge loss...

That's not a done deal yet. He could still sign but, yes, i don't see that as any big upgrade.

This a solid post - but I would put Lawrence much lower - he is pretty anemic at QB

He will be a Steeler before the end of May. What are you talking about?

Last 2 games against the Dolphins were the Joe Burrow Bowl and Tupou breaking Tua's head game

As one last gift after a decade of limp wrist QBing - Dalton nearly blew Burrow for the Bengals

Great thread! In terms of opposing QBs, this is pretty positive -- only two of these guys are legit, every-week fantasy starters ... and then I remember that we have a bad habit of losing to backups and subpar QBs.

In any event, my ranking would be:

Tier 1 (All Pros/deserved Pro Bowlers) - Allen, Jackson

Tier 2 (Solid Starters) - Goff, Love

Tier 3 (Sub-par starters who could still destroy you on a good, healthy day) - Tua, Lawrence, Murray

Tier 4 (Complete unknowns who could jump as high as Tier 2 or poop the bed this season) - Nix, Maye, Williams, McCarthy

Tier 5 (Turds) - Fields, Rodgers/Steelers poo poo platter, Browns poo poo platter

I'd actually bet on Flacco or Dillion Gabriellle being their week 1 starter.

I'm just not so sure Sanders will be the starter early in the season? They've got to many QB's and not enough reps to get a good look at them all.

They might be better off missing out on Rodgers and I'm not trying to be funny.

Yep he's one of those guys that's hard to get a handle on. Looks really good for a game or two, then really bad. But he is a vet with a decent record so......

Josh Allen and Lamar are the toughest ones and it's not even close. I don't think Trevor Lawrence should be ranked above Jordan Love, he is a fine QB in a vacuum but he will probably never match his HS/freshman year expectations of being an era defining player.
