A good running back screen.
We used to at least run a good TE one …. Or maybe that was under Marvin
Anything but the wr screen. We got to put our energy into hoping they throw those plays out for a more conventional screen game.
I can see Chase being more than capable of explosive plays from screens.

I don't think we ever were particularly good at RB screens. I remember a whole lot of hospital balls where either it was telegraphed what we were doing or the blocking for the screen just completely failed and the RB just got murdered.

I mean, Chase Brown just dominated with screens in '23 and had some nice ones last year (like the Cowboys TD), but whatever.

I really don't get it either, especially since our pass blocking wasn't great because the a way to neutralize the pass rush is to let defenders rush up field and then throw a screen to take advantage of the vacated areas.
The only problem is that screens work best when the defense blitzes because the defenders are in the backfield and you toss it over their heads to the back behind the line of scrimmage, but our line was so bad last season that we faced the least amount of blitzes in the league but still gave up the third-most pressures.
Hopefully this is Burrow's best line and they can be good enough to make running screens effective.

Well Perine is back. He scored on a screen when he was here his first time around.

Giovanni Bernard's ribs got pummeled from being hung out so often when he was here.

The Perine AFCC screen TD was memorable. And perfectly executed.
Mixon would look like he had the whole field ahead of him and he’d trip as he accelerated.

Believe that was the longest TD play in Bengals playoff history.
Also like Truck said, Chase Brown is one hell of a screen RB as well. Agree, we should see more of them but not in a predictable way please...
Not near as much 3rd and longs where it HAS to be a screen would be my want.

Don’t recall us ever having success with TE screen plays. You are correct, too many players get blown up.

Uzomah vs the Jags in '21.
They've had a couple good gains with a few guys but nothing consistent.

Another great thing about screen passes is calling them "scream passes." Any time I'm out throwing the nerf football around with my buddy and his kids we do lots of scream passes, which is just throwing a regular pass while going AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I miss that old school running between the tackles and having a FB/TE pave the way for the RB.
I also miss having true interior pressure on the DL. I miss 2011 when Geno, Fanene, and Rucker were constantly terrorizing the QB inside. That year they had 5 guys with 4+ sacks each.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

You weren't watching Chase Brown last year. Plenty of screens and passes out to the flat for him.

Donald Lee made his name known with us on TE screens.
Eifert got many, MANY first downs on TE screens.
Ceej also did some, as mentioned by Faulk.
We use our TEs differently than in the screen game.

Passes out of the flat and checkdowns I remember, but not traditional screens.
