Reds July 2025 Thread
Ok, I should know this. But who the hell is their batting coach, and for how long? I swear to god my entire adult life they either put up 12 runs or look like they’re swinging toothpicks at butterflies out there. It’s insane.

26 of their 52 losses, they have scored 2 or fewer runs. That is a huge problem, with no end in sight.

This is his first year here as the hitting coach. He was with Francona in Cleveland for '22 and '23.

I'm not ready to blame him for our hitting woes and wondering why he hasn't fixed everyone in 5 months. I think we just have a lot of mediocre/flawed/bad hitters. At the majors level, a hitting coach is more for the day-to-day tweaks and consistency of mechanics, not really wholesale fixes of bad batters, as that's what the minors is for.

Nice job by Barlow getting out of that.

That was a hell of a battle by Steer! Great AB to get the lead.

2 dropped fly balls on Steer, or we are going to extra innings again.  That was a gift victory for the Reds, I wouldn’t count on to many of those.

Hey thanks good call, and good info! I just assumed whoever it was has been around a while. We know what assuming does.

A win is a win no matter how you get it. Every team would take a lucky win all day every day.

I think that his biggest impact is getting Elly to quit trying to hit a five run home run on every swing. His balance into and through his swing is waaaaaay different than it was the last couple of years. He also has a much quicker swing. And, gee . . . guess who is hitting .282 and is third in MLB in runs scored? EDLC.

Happy birthday!

Mine is in September and it's always nice when they win on your day. I rarely get the Reds/Bengals double win because the Bengals suck in September and the Reds are usually in 'rookie check out' mode.

I don't really feel like they're overmatched or like little brother. Just some really bad lapses in the field and some really bad choices at the plate. It's easy to say "if they get that ironed out" but the question is...can they?

I agree, but don’t expect the other team o give you unearned runs for a win. The odds are against you, if you can’t score more than 2 runs a game.
