Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Bregman, if his quad is healthy, would be a massive boon to this offense and probably single-handedly put us in wildcard conversation. He's almost certainly going to opt out of his contract this offseason, so it'll just be a 1-year rental, but so far this year....
Reds 3B in 2025: .211 BA (28th) / .266 OBP (30th) / .308 SLG (28th) / .574 OPS (29th)
Bregman in 2025: .299/.385/.553/.938

5:10 start today. That's an odd start time for a home game.

Let's not be so sure the Reds are going to be buyers.
They're more likely to be sellers if they don't get at least a few more games above .500 within the next couple weeks, possibly just sitting on their hands even if they do get a handful of games above.
Hearing Krall say they like their guys really tells me Castellini doesn't wanna spend more $$ and take risk on the team potentially not actually going deep into the postseason.

Instead of being mad that they didn't win the series against the 'lowly Marlins', I'm content that they split with one of the hottest teams in the league. I was concerned that we were going to watch our All-Star pitcher get upstaged by Sandy Alcantara and blow this series, but SA threw a lot of flat pitches compared to his normal pitching style and Andrew Abbott is Andrew F'n Abbott.
Lodolo was pretty impressive today, but the bullpen squeaked by. Only one hit but four walks . . . gotta clean that up.
Six runs off of a solo shot and eight singles. Very un-Reds like as was the 3 for 8 with runners in scoring position.
I'm expecting to win two out of three from the Rockies . . . a sweep sure would be nice, though, because it would put them at 5 games over .500 for the first time all season.

While it's nice they ended up getting a split, unfortunately they are 3.0 games out of the WC with just 3 games left till the ASB.
They would have to win every game and the Giants to lose every game (they could, they play LAD) and the two teams between them (STL, SD) to fall behind the Reds too.
While they're still clearly in the race more than halfway through the season, it'd be nice instead saying "they're so close to the WC, just X games back" to say "they're in the WC right now, keep it!"
We've been seeing this with the Reds the past few years where they sit right around .500 into July and we keep hoping they turn the corner, but they never do.
Last year, they were just 1 game under .500 as late in the season as Aug 14, but they just couldn't quite get there.
Year before that, they got as high as 10 games ABOVE .500 on July 8 (2nd to last game before ASB) and in the driver's seat for the postseason and still ended the season just 2 games above .500 missing the playoffs.
Hoping this year is different, but with what we've seen so far, I'm not confident it happens unless they make some trades between the ASB and EOM July.
An everyday RF who is a proven hitter, 1-2 quality RPs, and maybe 1 SP would help a ton.

I still have my fingers crossed that they're going to pull a '21 Bengals where they hover around .500 then go on a run late.
Maybe i need to get in my car and throw a world-class rant/tantrum on my way to and from work like i did during the 'niners game that year...

When was the last time the Reds hovered around .500 and then went on a great run late?
And what is "late" in your eyes?
To me, late is September, or late August at the earliest.
The last time I could find a "late push" where the team hovered around .500 midway through the year was 25 years ago when they were 66-66 on Aug 30 and ended up 9 games above .500 by the end, then went into a tiebreaker game with STL and lost, missing the playoffs.
Man, that takes an incredible amount of faith and hope to believe something will happen that hasn't occurred in 25 years for this franchise.
I'm not that kinda person.
I always look at recent trends and bank my predictions/expectations off that.
Probably why I'm usually so miserable when it comes to sports lol.

Yeah, late Aug thru Sept. I'm not banking on it, just be nice to see for once, as you said, since it hasn't happened in a while. Hadn't happened in a while for the Bengals either up to that time.
It's more me trying to stay somewhat optimistic with a recent example of a Cincy sports team's performance. NGL, it probably won't happen though.

As your sig says, Hope is not a strategy lol.
My plan is to basically continue watching Reds on FDSN until preseason starts and then decide whether to cancel FSDN subscription to save $20/month or wait until the end of baseball season depending on how they are doing.
I try not to put higher expectations for teams. I set my expectations to how they are doing/have done.
That may make me more depressing to be around and interact with, but it is what it is lol.

Yep. I purchased the one year plan. One hundo, out the door. So i'm locked in regardless. Just a matter of whether i tune in or not.

I thought about getting the $100 deal, which would have only really saved me $20 in the end, but I didn't know how the Reds would be this year.
If they were horrendous by end of June or July, it would have only cost me $40-80.
Heck, I might cut it off at start of Sept anyway and if the Reds make the playoffs, I'll watch them on regular TV, otherwise saved myself the $$ and frustration of yet another year of missing the (my) mark

Well, can Burns finally get it together tonight? Can the offense keep scoring runs or will they go back into one of their funks?
They 're playing literally the worst team in baseball so they'd better get it done.

Anything less than a sweep of the Rockies, is unacceptable.
