Gotta send this kid back to the minors before his development gets ruined.
He only has 2 pitches and can't even reliably throw them for strikes. Guys chase outside, but if they don't it's a walkfest.

Got to be here until Greene/Spiers come back. Don't have much of a choice.

At the beginning of the year i wouldnt have guessed this, but....the Reds are a middle of the pack stolen base team ranking 14th in steals in MLB.

Santillan throws too many sliders out of the zone because he's afraid of getting hit.
Abbott doesn't have this problem because he expects to get hit, that's because one breaking pitch is a few MPH different than the last one. That's the difference between a pitcher and a thrower. Santillan is still in that "I'll just blow it by you" mentality when he doesn't really have 'put away' stuff. He should be going at 90-95% effort most of the time then crank it up when you need it.

Good. I felt that they were running themselves out of too many innings last year.
I'd like to see more hit and run plays but this lineup isn't very reliable.

3 IBB in one game for EDLC is absolutely slapping Hays in the face.
....and Hays just takes it and Golden Sombreros.

Same, kid. Same.
Saw that after the 3rd IBB to EDLC. Pretty much felt the same way about it at that point.

0-11 with runners in scoring position, I hate to say it but it's about time to start looking on to next season. This team just doesn't have "it".

They could...make a trade?
While another SP can help them this year (move Martinez to the BP when Greene is back), they could try to get a pitcher who they can have under control next year, possibly year after for their "window" before some of these core guys begin hitting FA or entering final year under Arb.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

It's real tough losing to the clear worst team in the MLB who only had 21 wins prior to yesterday when the next closest team had 10 more.
While everyone expects the Reds to win the series against the team that bad, I think we all really expected them to sweep this series.
I'll give it another month or so before I consider not watching the team anymore, as that's when the NFL preseason gets going, but it's frustrating when we as fans feel like the team could accomplish so much if the team would throw $20-40 more mill into the team but they won't/can't, greatly relying on the success of their young homegrown talent year after year.
Rumor from this week though is Manfred is actually pushing for a salary cap.

That could really help level the playing field for the smaller/cheaper market teams.

Like I've said many times now.
This is the most .500 team that has ever existed.
They'll go on runs to get you excited, and they'll go on runs that make you think they're hopeless.
But the end destination is virtually inevitable.

The players on this team, don’t make a team.
Take any player and place him on any other team, and he would probably play better. None of these players are leaders, they are all followers. Take too many average players with no leadership, who are all playing for themselves instead of the team, and you have the Reds in a nut shell.
95 games down with 69 games to go. To win the wild card, I believe you will need 90 wins.
The reds would have to go 42-25, a.626 win percentage, that’s not happening. Time to sell, find a new GM and prepare for next year.
