It’s time to stick a fork in the Reds and say they are done.

I said at the all star break they would be lucky to play .500 with the most difficult schedule in mlb. It’s all coming true.

They've leaned on him incredibly hard for a guy that's suffered a not insignificant amount of injuries. It was always likely that the wheels would fall off at some point.

Remember the Reds record when scoring 2 or fewer runs is 4-35.  No room for error for pitchers

Yeah, I was mostly referencing the walk to the #9 hitter, but he has been mostly reliable. My main problem with him is he is still stuck in this little league mindset of "I'm going to try to blow away this guy with 100% effort on every pitch throw." Lyon Richardson had that mindset his first time up here a couple of years ago and has shown signs of understanding pitching at this level this time around. Santillan is still stuck on trying to overpower everybody.

Took two straight innings of trying, but finally managed to squeeze 1 run out of a leadoff double.

Looking like another 2-1 8th inning with Santillan coming in.

We didn't blow the lead!
We're not gonna get swept by the Pirates!

Ended the losing streak as soon as it began.

Still haven't been swept.

Hopefully Littel can salvage the series.

This team is so hot and ice cold. So very inconsistent at scoring. Way too many strikeouts, Lux Sux, just on and on.

But hey, we at least avoided being swept by a MLB cellar dweller.

Mets still free falling. Reds only 2.5 back now.

My bet is the Mets are going to get hot eventually, they have a better team than the Reds.

Reds now 5-36 in games scoring 2 runs or less. I don’t think the Refs understand the concept, the idea is to hit the ball and score runs, the more runs the better.

Maybe on both counts. The Reds did nearly sweep them in New York. It's really going to come down to how they do on their brutal schedule after today. They got a homestand against the Phillies and Brewers starting tomorrow. After that they have a west coast trip against both LA teams and Arizona. We all know how west trips tend to go for us. After this we should have a really good idea what our chances are to get a wild card spot.
