He has been an ace special teamer. That alone should solidify his roster spot. He has way more athleticism than Stone and more than Battle.
RAS: Anderson 9.49, Battle 8.98, Stone 3.81, Anthony 6.58.

Let's just hope that he's learned and adapted enough to the pro game that he can actually step up and claim a spot.
For sure, big fast Safeties like Tycen are always intriguing. Just like Emmanwori this last draft. Tycen isn't that big, but he is big enough
and with his speed and range we thought he would be special once he got a chance. This might be it. But like I said, Geno Stone sucked
last year and the coaches didn't give Tycen a shot.
We have new defensive coaches, though, so it is possible if Tycen plays lights out this PS.

Sure seems like it. I know Tycen had some rough plays in OTA's but it matters much more how you play this time of year.

Well to be fair, Stone started excelling once Lou made changes to the defense. Stone then started looking more like himself.

True, but he still wasn't a very good tackler and just is blessed with good hands to make interceptions being his one gift.
Geno lucks into a lot of interceptions too, I just really like Tycen and if Geno struggles we might have the guy to fall back on in the room.
This is a good thing as Marv used to say lol

Yes, I hope Anderson shines as well, because I do not see Stone as a long term solution.

Trading up to get a giy you only use on special teams (and not a returner/kicker) makes zero sense. But that is ZT/Lou for you.
Glad he is getting a shot.

Tycen has never looked bad...in a game...in my eyes. Never makes the wrong assignment, never whiffs on a tackle (Geno Stone), and never has stupid penalties.
He had a PFF grade of 76 in PS1, with a borderline elite 87 in tackling. I know he is a special teams ace, but I am really hoping that he gets a shot with the ones and Jordan Battle in this game. His biggest issue has been health. He had a two INT preseason game in 2023 against the Packers with one of them going for a pick-6.
I don't think his contributions on special teams should prevent him from getting a shot to start. Or at the very least, be one of the first options off the bench.
Remember, this is the same team that was starting Zach Moss over Chase Brown until an injury got Brown more of a workload.
Thoughts?
I called him out for being a break out player this season, but did not remember you opining there.
Did you miss the roll call of said fan club...

The criticism of Anderson coming into the draft were his long-range coverage from the slot or near the line, with an accompanying expectation that he might transition to linebacker. Instead he has excelled at special teams, which are all about taking long-range angles and tackling in the open field. He may not play great with the ball in the air, but he has recovery speed and tackling ability. I expect him to excel in run defense in 2-high and do OK in single high. He may not play great in deep single coverage, but neither does Stone.. or Battle.. or Dax for that matter. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the experiment.
BTW, agree with the observation that ZT/Lou seem to have traded up for a ST gunner without trying and develop Anderson into a every down player. Old News but I wanna give credit where it's due.
