CIN/PIT Line Pulled From Sportsbook
#1
This is very strange. Usually means something pretty big has happened (or may happen).

Could also mean nothing, but I just thought it was worth passing on.

Probably because DeAngleo Williams will be out

I know nothing about sports betting other than the team with the minus symbol is favored. A pulled line means what? No one can currently bet on the game?

Yeah. No bets currently being taken. Should be put back up rather quickly once they get the info they need, with adjustments.

Line is still off.

Searching the web for any potential reasons why.

Can't find a thing.

Again, this may mean nothing, but all their other lines are up and they're expecting heavy action on this game. Perplexing to pull it off the board day-of for no reason.

It's up now and posted at -2. Other betting sites are similarly dropping from the opening spread of -3 to either -2.5 or -2. So people putting money down on the Bengals. And in my memory, the lines on Steelers games usually widen rather than shrink.

When someone in Pittsburgh said, "Underdog," Michael Vick started sweating.

Yep, back up. Line moving heavy towards Cincy. Gametime will probably be a pick em.

What this means is that the Sharps, aka the Wise Guys, threw out early money to drive the PIT line up and now they're dumping the big bucks on Cincy against an artificially inflated line.

This is a good sign for Bengals fans.

I have not been following the timeline of this.

Was the only reason the line was pulled was because it was moving so fast?  Did it drop a full point while it was pulled for just a few hours?

Also remember that this is one of the few lines where a team should not get a single point for playing at home.

Yeah, generally in a situation like that it means so much money is flooding to one side that they pull it off the table to correct the spread before any damage is done.

Sharps do this kind of stuff almost every game but rarely does a bookmaker see such a dramatic flow of money that they yank the action.

Now down to -1.5 on several sites. Money is moving big on the Bengals.

I'm still seeing 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 with almost all the offshore sites dropping to a point and a half. All that matters is a Bengals win at the end of the day though.

This from predict.com

The Cincinnati Bengals opened up as +2.5 home dogs to Pitt. The line has gone up to -3 based on heavy public action on Pitt, but we're fading that, as we believe the Steelers lose this game straight up. Bet the Bengals fast if you like this game, because it wouldn't surprise us a bit to see this line drop again close to kickoff.
