Problem with LV is property values took a really steep dive in the recession and has gone nowhere since and is likely to stagnate for a good long time which can really hurt a fan base. LV might sound like the latest shiny new toy, but the city is facing some serious infrastructure issues.. water being a major stumbling block..

Vegas would be great for the Raiders. Could have a casino built right into the stadium. Hell you could take bets in the stands.

Here is the problem with your statement.. St. Louis has lost two NFL teams in the modern era (1987 and 2015) ,  I don;t seem them getting a team back for a 3rd time especially in the near future

have you been to Oakland lately.. they have their own big time infrastructure issues.. the big difference will the ability to buy property cheaper in Vegas than in Oakland.

Well one problem is the fans are not supporting the franchise with attendance.  They have been near the bottom, even this year with all the hype about Oakland. they were 31st in home attendance percentage.   As big of a city as Oakland is and the metro area, you would think they would be packing the stadium if they had such loyals fans

La lost two teams as well. Also the owner of the rams didn't want any part of stlouis which is why they left. If the ownership worked with the city the team would still be there.

the bottom line is St. Louis is a mid market city.. to lose two NFL franchises in a span of 20 years is pretty much a death pill anyway you swallow it.  

To compare LA to St. Louis is not the same, LA is the second largest market.. the NFL brass want teams back in the second largest TV market.. they really could care less about St. Louis especially after giving them another team in the 90s.  Also have you been to a game in St. Louis, that stadium was not good at all...

Getting screwed by the owner is a different animal... They were willing to build a new stadium  with the rams I am sure if the Raiders move to St.louis they will get a brand new stadium.

St. Louis only worked on a new stadium once it was known the Rams were considering a move back home.   The problem is they were all half measures after they failed to live up to their lease.  


That's why the raiders didn't want to deal with St. Louis.   It was their history of never following through with a lease they agree on....

Anyways two reasons why I don't think Las Vegas will end up getting the team.

1.) Its a city full of transplants who are fans of other teams already. Its just like LA but with not as much people. Not sure the NFL wants to see half empty seats in another stadium.

2.) The Gambling issue. Personally I think this is a BS reason to not have a team in Las Vegas because every state in the US will have legal gambling in the near future. With that being said I just can't see 24 NFL owners approving of this move.

I will say this though I think Vegas would be a cool place for the NFL to invest in because it is a  big event city and it would be an  awesome place for Superbowls, Pro Bowls, and drafts. If I were the NFL I would use Vegas like how they use London now especially when they extend the regular season to 17 games.

Please Kronkie had no interest in keeping the team in St Louis it was the worst kept secret in the NFL. St Louis never had a chance because A.) The Owner wanted the team in LA and B.) The NFL wanted a team in the NFL. If the owner worked with the city their would have been a deal.

You just keep leaving out the LA factor.. LA also was screwed when teams left them. so that comparison is null and void and LA is way bigger (13 million metro compared to 3 million metro) more money more TV.. St. Louis can't compete.  In the end St. Louis lost two teams in over a 20 or so year period, blame also goes to the City also not just owners.. say good bye to football in St. Louis, it has happen in other cities through the years too.

Property prices for the stadium isn't the problem. Just ask Jerry Jones. He got Arlington to just bulldoze several apartment blocks where people had no voice in the matter at all. My sister lives just a few miles from there and I used to pick up scrap metal in the area. I had several friends who lived where the parking lot is now. They were treated beyond harsh..

Property prices is a problem when you are thinking down towards the city of Oakland.. also taxes are much higher in CA.. another reason to move.. investors are lining up in Vegas while Oakland City Council continues to put the Raiders in a shit stadium.. clock is ticking

I think an NFL team could work with all the fans coming in from other cities to see their team play and turning it into a weekend.

But in terms of a home fanbase, I don't know how that would go.  Vegas is very transient, and the US transplants mostly already root for other teams.  And it's mostly a blue collar town, so not sure about disposable incomes to support a pro team.  Although it's a pretty big city with 2M+ residents, the demographics are quite different from most larger metropolitans.

The NFL could work because of just 8 home games (although that's still @4 hours casino hours don't want people away from their tables!).  Much tougher play for the NHL, or MLB (which would probably need a dome)

What is with you guys and the St. Louis love fest. They didn't do what they said they would do and the Rams did .... After years of watching St. Louis not do what they promised they exercised their rights and built in LA.

Yes the St. Louis Rams deal to come to St. Louis wasn't good for the city. But that still doesn't mean they can just not follow through on that contract. If the NFL was smart they would never return.
