Yes, there's bias, always has been; and anybody who's a Bengals, Ravens, or Browns fan who doesn't see it isn't a fan of their teams, but one of miliions of the closet Steeler fans out there.

I'm thinking the Pats get their share of media love as well. Had that been Dalton involved in an under inflated playoff win - it would have been a suspension for a year for him and Lewis on top of loss of draft picks. I hate those media darlings (pitt and NE).

You forgot Miami.  There's another example of an artificially hyped and coddled team.  All of these teams being mentioned don't hold a candle to the level of absurdity that the Steelers and Pats get away with though.  At the end of the day, the owners all know but don't complain because they don't want to impact the "fair competition" image and thereby affect the amount of cash that winds up in their pockets.

Burfict has done dirty plays before. He's been a part of numerous hard hits and penalties. It's not like he's a one time offender. I mean, there's videos of him getting away with twisting ankles and the cheap hit on the Ravens TE.

Shazier's hit was just as dirty as Burfict's. Both were in the moment and really big hits. The NFL changed the rule to the Shazier hit, but EVERYONE basically agreed that the hit should have been a penalty.

Bryant is suspended for a whole year. Bell is suspended for 4 games. Ben has been suspended numerous times. So has Harrison.

The only difference is the Steelers don't get dogged on like the Bengals did in 05. But, to be fair, that team was just an overall time bomb that attracted media to it.

Failed to mention that the rapists suspension was dropped significantly, or that John Clayton busted them breaking practice rules during the 70's and was blackballed by the league, or that Porter was never disciplined for attacking Levi Jones in a casino, or...

We win a few Super Bowls, we become one of the protected media darlings. While 5 playoff appearances in a row is nothing to scoff at... 5 straight first round losses and seven first round losses in 10 years still makes us a joke in the eyes of the media and average NFL fans. I still get scoffs and "... WHY!?" When I tell people I'm a lifelong Bengal fan. Let's face it folks, we're still a pathetic joke to 90% of the population. We need a few super bowl rings or that will never change (but first things first: let's win a freaking playoff game already).

It's really a matter of perception for the most part. Example, I live in Columbia South Carolina and very rarely if ever hear much about the Bengals here and the same complaints expressed here are expressed about the Panthers and Falcons.. Everyone who is a fan of any team has some bias. Some live in denial, some don't.
A few days ago I read a few comments by Squeeler fans who were very harsh about their own team, very critical of the suspensions and they openly acknowledged that the Bengals are the better run team personnel-wise. Now of course those comments were hardly typical, but not everyone goes through life with rose colored glasses.
If every Bengals fan lived elsewhere in other states like myself and some others here the perceived bias probably wouldn't seem so pronounced, but it is a matter of perception.
Yeah, the Bengals do tend to get the bad rap, but it's also widely acknowledged that the team is definitely a force to be reckoned with during the season. You have to admit that if the Bengals were treated with kid gloves at every turn and all we ever heard were excuse after excuse about not winning playoff games and it was someone else's faults every time that would get real old real fast.
And don't forget that the national punditry class is probably the laziest bunch of clods anywhere. Most of them are paid liars with an ax to grind and seldom ever report things with much degree of accuracy.

I agree with Lewis on how the only thing matters is holding Lombardis in February.

Someone asked him about the way the season ended last year If the off-season seemed longer and are you more anxious for this year to get going?

He said that only one team out of 32 gets to feel good about how their season ended.

Columbia, South Carolina huh? I live up the street in Charlotte. I take the kids to Riverbanks quite often. Great zoo. I've actually seen a few Bengal fans driving around our area. It's pretty neat.
