So who do you think shined enough tonight to make 53?
Who earned their way onto the PS?

As far as the 53 goes, I think Trevor Roach made a case to stick around at least until Burfict returns.
I also thought Tra Carson made a case to make the 53, though you could argue the same for Bronson Hill. I just think Carson looks to be a stronger runner and better receiver.

I feel bad for Kumerow, playing as well as he did tonight. I know he won't make the 53, but I think he should make the PS. Alonzo Russell, too. Simonize is going to be cut. Can't see him making the PS.

I thought the job that Tony McRae did in coverage and in the return game earned him a spot on the PS. Hillary might make it, too.

Lengel has looked good enough to make the PS.

Going into tonight, I thought David Dean and Ryan Brown were both good talent for the PS. I even thought Brown stood a chance of beating out Hunt for a spot on the 53. But Hunt probably did well enough to save his job. It's debatable. I think it's time we move on, but I'm not sure Brown is all the way there yet in terms of being a legit guy for our rotation behind Carlos. I hope we can pick someone up.

What do think? Who stays? Who goes? Who goes on the PS?
Today I'm TEAM SEWELL. Tomorrow TEAM PITTS. Maybe TEAM CHASE. I can't decide, and glad I don't have to.

Why do you think he doesn't make the team? Kumerow that is he was hampered with a hamstring injury all preseason and last 2 weeks before preseason.... I did not get to see this game but heard he had a good catch... I have green Boyd core laffell Erickson and kumerow making it just based on his hands he is LOVED by coaching staff also any info on the game would be much appreciated

It comes down to Kumerow and Wright. I wouldn't want to be the one to make the final decision. Hopefully we can keep the other on the PS for fresh legs towards the end of the season.

Kumerow has been more durable.

Yeah. I would personally choose Kumerow. Seems to be smarter, better route runner, and like you said, more durable. However, Wright has the speed, hands, and experience with special teams.  It's a tough choice.

I'm fine with either. But of the two, Kumerow has a higher ceiling IMO. With the Tate cut, anything can happen though, maybe they keep 7?

Yeah that is a possibility. With Eifert being PUP, does he still take a roster spot? Or does that free one up?

Kumerow = Armon Binns. All of the preseason hype and coaches talking him up, none of the actual production.

Players that I thought looked good.

Defense:
Trevor Roach - He plays well every chance he gets, they should opt to keep 7 backers to start the season.
Vigil/Dawson - both played well even though they didn't fill up the stat sheet.
Williams/Hunt/Clarke - all 3 got good push and helped disrupt, of the 3 Hunt was the most inconsistent, but overall they all did some nice things.
Fej/Smith/Shaw - were the best of the secondary, the rest looked bad to mediocre save for a few plays.

Offense:
Tre Carson - ran well when he had a hole and did well as a receiver.
Kummerow/Russel/Erickson - all 3 looked good when the ball was thrown their way.

Specialist:
Erickson/McCrae - while Erickson didn't have any break away punts this game he still was able to make players miss on the initial tackles. McCrae almost broke a kick return, but go tripped up. He's fighting for the final CB spot and possible KR duties and really hustled out there.

I could see the Bengals keeping 7 WRs such that Wright only plays ST while Peerman is out. Once Peerman is back, then perhaps Wright could get cut.

I too agree that Kumerow looks like the better WR, but Wright has more value on ST.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

If he is placed on PUP he does not take up a roster spot but we won't have him available for at least 6 weeks.  Do we really want to lose him for 2-3 more games than we anticipate him needing to be ready.  He stays on the 53

The big question mark is do we choose to carry Peerman on the 53 or place him on IR.  A broken arm is usually a 6-8 week injury.  If we place him on IR then we may end up having decide whether to bring him or Jackson back when they heal.  If I had to bet, we carry Peerman...we never want to lose a Pro Bowl player and a steady leader for the season if we have to.  That leaves us the option of bringing Jackson back if we need to.

I'd be surprised, but happily surprised, if Kumerow made the 53.  They are really worried about the loss of Peerman. So, I think that they'd keep Wright over him. I thought Kumerow showed more as a WR last night than Wright showed all preseason. Maybe they will keep both. But the roster is getting really tight.

I don't think he is going to be ready until week 6 anyways. If he just started jogging on his ankle this past week, it sounds like he has a lot of work to do. Ankle injuries are tough sometimes.  Everyone heals differently, and being a big guy, it will take him a while before he feels comfortable with running full speed and cutting. Ankles are also very important when it comes to blocking because the force that goes into your ankles when pushing a 300+ lb DE is pretty substantial, especially when you are pushing on your toes.

If it were me, I would say place him on the PUP to give him time to get to one hundred percent. It sucks that our schedule is so tough in the first 6 weeks, but in hopes that we make it to our 6th straight playoff appearance, I want him healthy when that time comes.

Did Roach, Flowers, and Wright play on special teams? How'd they do there?

Remember this game wasn't against Indy's first stringers so take everything with a grain of salt. Mostly I'd keep Flowers over Roach though despite Roach being good last night. And either one will probably be cut when Burfict is back.

Roach is around the ball a lot. Slow in coverage but is where he needs to be in the run game. I'm not sure if Flowers is any better in coverage though.

If either will be replaced with Burflict, I'd prefer to keep Roach.

This is the problem before wrights injury he was borderline pushing Mohammad sanu to wr 4 that was the feeing with the coaches... I feel like they want to see if he can get back to that form or not. If they think he can they keep wright but even with wrights form before the injury I would rather keep kumerow he is amazing at shielding defenders off with that big 6"5 body to catch balls.

Hunt had his annual "I beat up on the Colts 3rd string OT's" game again. It seems to always keep him on the roster. I think they will probably keep him and put Brown on the PS. Personally, I don't think Hunt will be more than what he is now.

The annual Colts game is where Hunt always saves his job.

It's become a tradition with him.

Pretty much agree with this

Still digging Derron Smith's play and Carson ran well again plus played a lot of special teams.

Wright still has not shown me much and would be a tough call between Kummerrow and Russell for me.

Got to believe Roach really helped his chances at 53 man roster spot immensely.

Would like to thank Bengalbug for using my extra tickets last night and keeping them from being discarded.

Know you were not planning on going and even gave your own seats away. Very cool of you to do Sir.

Apologize for not being able to keep you down on front row longer. Thought for sure somebody would be a no show.

But at least you were there long enough for your better half to get on the Big Screen.

Small consolation I guess.

Thanks again, will let you know if any real games come available.
