***2024 NFL DRAFT THREAD***

That's probably a bottom-5 RB room then. I guess at least it's a bit better at pass blocking than last year as a consolation.

Newton has 59 college starts. This from The Beast: "Has only average twitch and long speed for tight coverage versus NFL athletes, but he is instinctive and competitive with inside-outside experience. He projects best in a zone-heavy scheme, in which he can work short areas and play the ball in front of him."

NFL scouts cooled on him throughout his final season in college … will be a 24-year-old rookie.

Probably, but they clearly liked the Alabama WR. The offense is going to be the Burrow to 3 WRs show.

Rasheen Ali from Marshall could be a good 6th or 7th round pick at RB.  The guy is explosive.

It's still a good RB room, just Estime would have given it a true thumper which they lack.

How many more picks must we throw at CB? Especially one unlikely to make the team.

Heads should roll but nothing will be done.

He's a former team captain though. Thank God.

This sounds encouraging; we don’t have anyone who can cover tight ends. I’m sick of getting burned by Mark Andrews.

He is good enough to make the roster as the backup slot and situational guy, plus a ST threat.  There will be some guys he just can't be trusted guarding, but will make the roster.  Could still sign one of the many vet UFAs.

Conventional wisdom is that the draft falls off considerably in the last couple of rounds. Not sure why the Bengals would keep all 10 picks if that is true and given they have limited roster room.

Seems like good value here. I liked the cbs taken just ahead of him more but he could be good.
Definitely good value because Newton could have went a lot higher.
Bengals wasted no time turning in the pick so it was an easy decision.

That's the goal? A guy that will make the roster in the fifth round?

 Big Yikes.

This draft has been awful.

Did they show any Newton highlights on TV?
Looks like they went to commercial for the pick and then a QB was chosen so they went on and on about Rattler. Now they are showing tape on every pick again. Would have liked to hear some of their thoughts on Newton.

For fun, the Consensus Big Board rankings and Zierlein graded for our picks so far.

Mims-#22 overall, 6.42(will be good starter within 2 years)

Jenkins-#50 overall, 6.30(will eventually be a plus starter)

Burton-#95 overall, 6.21(will eventually be average starter)

Jackson-#159 overall, 5.96(average back up or ST'er)

All-#166 overall, 6.14(backup with the potential to develop into a starter)

Newton-#163 overall, 5.99(average backup or ST'er)

Jackson the worst pick by far, but also a big need.

If we go RB at this point I’m guessing it’s George Holani or Kendall Milton

I've been negative, I get it. But this draft has been disappointing.

Why so? I’m not debating you but it would be interesting to read how you would have drafted differently.

I love the top 4 picks and think they will make our draft great.

I think they missed out in the 5th because there were great options available and they reached on All. If All is good it doesn’t matter though.
Bengals needed an all around tight end that can block and do everything and that’s what All is. We needed a backup for Sample that can develop.

I would have liked to hit oline more and draft a G or C and feel like we missed a great opportunity in the 4th.
