My point is like the Bengals and Steelers...The Ravens still have some really tough games on the schedule.

Its going to be fun to see how it shakes out.

It is, isn't it. I think both the Steelers and the Ravens will be shaken and slowly put out of contention as the season progresses. We however, will fight our way through and be ok.

The Bengals have had great success against them.  Again, the Bengals own the Ravens, Ravens own Steelers, Steelers own Bengals.

The problem is, the Bengals hardly ever romp on anyone. The kitties simply do not destroy the opponents they should.

They literally toy with them, and us, just like a real cat would.

Like my Bearcats did today, when they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The defense they have now is padded statistically by playing the Browns, Titans, and Bills...three of the worst offenses in the league.  This Ratbird defense is nothing like what they had when they won a Super Bowl.

Neither was the one they had when they won their second SB ... that wasn't the point.

The point is, they almost always have a top ten and usually top five defense, which is how they can have the success they do with a subpar offense.

I'm still sticking with 9-7. They aren't good enough to overcome Marvin to do much more than that.

This is worth moving back to top after Chiefs game because it contains fans thoughts on after a loss to Chiefs. Beat Tampa in Jungle and go to 5-3 on season. I see some losses coming for Steelers now in first place. Lets go 5-3 into bye week and get players like Price and Bernard and others back.

As the OP, I appreciate your optimism and the fact that Justin Tucker gacked an extra point and the Ratbirds lost to the Saints, all I can feel is that this team is miles away from being competitive.

The defense can't tackle pretty much anyone.  They always go high, and slide off...groundhog day.

The offense isn't creative.  We have a guy with Ross's ability and he gets one target.  One.

The special teams looked lost as well.

It is just groundhog day with Marv....Lucy pulled the ball away again.

Right now i see this season carrying on in a similar 9-7 type vein

..We have enough talent to beat the teams we should do (e.g. TB, Oakland, Browns) , but we do not have the talent, discipline or coaching to CONSISTENTLY win the games against playoff contenders  (Saints, Chargers, @Pitt).

I see some on the board assuming that just getting back some players healthy like Price, Gio, Vigil post bye does enough to tip the balance.

I'm not so sure, they need to use the bye week to do some serious self scouting and address some fundamentals (small things like you know wrap up tackling ! ThumbsUp)

So far this was the third time in four games the Bengals have allowed at least 481 yards. They’re on pace to allow 6,781 yards for the season, which would shatter the franchise record of 6,349, set in 1995.

I wouldn't say "not true" but "to be determined".

As the OP, you predicted loss to Chiefs. It doesn't matter the score. You predicted loss to Chiefs. You predicted they beat Tampa in THE JUNGLE to go to 5-3. You predicted in bye week they get Price and Bernard back.  That this team in dire need of a bye week gets one, then goes 5-3 the last 8 games to win AFC North.  Sometimes your original prediction is the right one.  The problem is you are now having a hard time with the Chiefs loss that you predicted, but I can see your other predictions coming true.  Of course they need to beat Tampa and get to 5-3.

I'll make a prediction.  Steelers didn't play in their bye week and move into First Place not even playing.  Bengals beat Tampa and in their bye week Steelers lose at Baltimore and it's Bengals who move into First Place without even playing.  Bengals back in First Place before they play again after Tampa game.  With Price, Bernard, Vigil, Kroft and other key players back.

The one thing going for this team is their NO QUIT attitude.  I'm not talking about Bengals fans who over decades quit at the drop of a hat.  In 2011 when Fans predicted 0-16 after Carson and Ocho left, they won.  In 2012 when team had all those O line injuries, they never quit and won. They won in 2013, 2014, 2015.   They fell to 6 wins in 2016.  They started awful in 2017 but never quit, and improved to 7 wins.  So the fans may quit, but the team won't quit.  They will go to 5-3 and the fans now shell shocked at 4-3 just as fans were shell shocked at 3-5 in 2012, those fans will be back as team starts to win again.  The Bengals have a NO QUIT attitude.  Bengals won after 3-5 start in 2012.   I predict going into their 9th game they will be 5-3 and back in First Place, so they won't even have to fight back from a 3-5 start as 2012.

The thing Dalton, Green and these players have going for them is they have always showed they have the most important thing in football. In football, it is coached in pee wee and junior high football on up. It is drilled into players as the most basic football pee wee on up message. NO QUIT, NO QUIT, NO QUIT. Anybody who watches football and doesn't believe in this, doesn't know football. Football is about NO QUIT. Dalton and this team have shown over time they DON'T QUIT and they FIGHT BACK. This team will get to 5-3. This team will regroup in bye week. I even think Steelers lose and Bengals move back into First during bye week. NO QUIT. Basic Football 101. NO QUIT.

New Orleans Saints(W- They have a great offense, but they are a vastly different team away from their dome)

Marvin’s record after bye week is not great. They are not pumped up after a bye.

That has been the trend for us. Coming out flat after a bye. However, with the possibilities of get some players back that have been injured, we can hope this year is different in that regard.

You are very anal retentive.

I'm going to make a non football prediction that you and a few others on here are not the English Lit professors you think you are. No, I'm not going to type THE Ohio State Buckeyes, THE Bengals, THE Chiefs, THE Steelers, THE Jungle. all THE time. Bengals, Chiefs, Steelers, you know who the hell they are. I'm also not going to make a paragraph after every sentence. You may THINK you are writing a term paper or writing for the New York Times on here, but you aren't. So, some of you on here who think you are great writers like Twain, Hemingway, Steinbeck, you most definitely are not. So on your grading of other peoples posts, do the words F Off have any meaning to you.

So 3 predictions here. #1, This is probably just a Bengals post thing, not the NY Times. #2, Some of you are probably not the English Lit professors you think you are, and your posts are probably not as perfect, wonderful, brilliant and dilly dilly as you think. #3, Mostly I predict Bengals will beat Tampa in Jungle and will be 5-3 at bye week. Maybe back in First Place before their bye week is over if Steelers lose to Browns or Ravens. As Always, GO BENGALS.

I'm really pessimistic right now about the Bengals and the league in general. I know most of you are not quite in agreement with me about the business end of this whole show, but it is a show put on to entertain the most people with supposedly the best product and you just witnessed the product the Bengals put out there for all to see. I'm not impressed to put it mildly.
Call it conspiracy theory mongering if you want. That's entirely up to you, but even in well scripted movies even nice people, actors play the parts of bad people . Perfectly law abiding citizens play the parts of serial killers and rapists and child molesters. So what makes it such a stretch to have a team play the part of the hapless losers after looking like the comeback kids for much of the early part of the season and it happens year after year after year. This team was the perfect setup to play the role of the up and comers to get blown out by the 'super offense' and look unable to stop the likes of me, a 59 year old man with bad legs and a 45 year smoking habit. It was more predictable than the rising sun and yet I still fell for it again myself.
Now that legalized sports gambling is here to stay it's only going to get worse as time goes on and the Bengals are far from the only bit players in suckering us into this game of hope and inevitable disappointment year after year after year.
I'd love to say that I'm never going to bite again and that I'm done watching football forever, but I too like to be entertained. The problem is that this just doesn't entertain me nearly as much as I had expected it would . It's just more of the same bad script over and over, year after year.
This team will win a few more games before it's all said and done, but until enough fans quit buying into this scripted nonsense they're never going to quit playing the role of the perennial disappointing team.
In the immortal words of my old man, "Wait'll you get to be my age!"
