I thought it was a joke at 1st. Then it was true...which made it funnier!  Hilarious

Plus, the Bengals weren't going to pay a top guy like James.

What connection does Taylor have to Jimbo Fisher?  Turner does, but to my knowledge....and I've been a FSU fan for as long as I've been a Bengals fan....Taylor has never worked with Jimbo.

It appears they have been again. With Hart you're not paying for past performance; you're paying for future possibility. We basically lock him down for one year and it's a win-win from there.

If he proves worthy of the incentives, then we have made a wise investment; if not then we cut him with no cap hit. I think this thread is just more of those that have to propensity to complain do so loudly at every turn. After review all available data I have 0 issue with the signing.

It makes a little more sense once broken down but only a little ! I think the fear is he's just another in the long line of marginal Bengal players that keep getting another year, another contract, another try and never pan out.

The issue isn't so much the Bengals don't spend money, it's they don't spend it on the right people ! And give them to many last chances.

It shows that the new coaching staff isn't some group of geniuses. Even if you REALLY like Hart, get him for $3-4 million a year.

I agree.  It seems with the new details out, they still overpaid a million or so.  It's not as bad as it initially looked, but it still seems it could have been done around the 3-4 mil range.

I can't support even with the updated contract details. Hart could have signed for 2 years 6m. He had to beg for a job last year. Now he's our big free agent splash.

Yeah I meant Turner.

If he was the backup i maybe would agree( but probably not i cant stand hart) but he is most likely going to be starting.  Hart is not starting quality and thats the part that is annoying as all get out. Year after year now we have been prancing out guys who are either straight up girlymen, penalty machines, guys who cant run block for "%$#, and/or guys who just get steam rolled on every pass play. Its getting a tad bit old...

Bengals.com makes it sound like he's the starter:

Bobby Hart got on the plane in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Monday night feeling like he did when he got drafted in the seventh round by the Giants four years ago. But now he’s a ripe old 24, a veteran of four NFL seasons and the right tackle the Bengals believe can help the Zac Taylor Era get off on the right foot.

“I was telling my wife I feel like a rookie. I’m staring at my life straight ahead of me,” said Hart, who signed his three-year deal Tuesday morning at Paul Brown Stadium. “I’m only 24, but with four years under my belt, the experiences I’ve had and to see what I’ve seen, I’m just ready to go out and try to accomplish my goals.”

Taylor’s new coaching staff has spent its first month sifting through college and pro tape at the direction of the player personnel department looking to get a feel for what the coaches want and new offensive line coach Jim Turner made it quite clear he’d like Hart. He liked how hard Hart played and how athletic he is.

There were moments Hart struggled. He allowed 10 sacks, according to Pro Football Focus, while leading the league with nine false starts. But who didn’t struggle last season on an offense that lost quarterback Andy Dalton for the last five games, wide receiver A.J. Green for the last eight and tight end Tyler Eifert for the last 12?

I don't know how Hobspin can type that with a straight face.

No credibility.

Of course his whole family is celebrating. They were homeless and on the streets this time last year.

I agree with you, no question.  I didn't like him at FSU LOL .  My point was, it makes it a teensy bit more stomachable....but not a lot more.
