I must have missed the day they went over the crucial make a facebook video section of first aid. Not trying to be a dick. But if someone is dying/critically injured right next to you. Your first reaction should NOT be to get out a phone and make a god damn facebook post.
I don't know what injuries the man in Minnesota had. But I know for sure making a video did nothing to help him.

As someone that used to hold an NREMT-P cert I feel the pain, here. But what needs to be taken into account is the cop telling her not to move with his gun drawn, IIRC from the video. The cop showed himself to be a little quick to fire and knowing there ŵas a weapon on him, movement to treat the wound could very well have been interpreted as an attempt to retrieve said weapon.
The culture we have that everything must be caught on video saddens me, especially when people neglect those around them in favor of their phone. But in this situation if I were in her shoes, trained to save a life, I may not have been videoing the events but I don't think I would have begun treating the wounds.
Edit: I was correct, the officer, with weapon still drawn, tells her twice to keep her hand where they are.

It also should be noted that she was using her phone, the making of that video, as a coping mechanism. In situations like that, of serious trauma, people tend to focus on one task. She was using the video to get her through that situation because if you notice in the video she starts to lose her shit a bit more when the phone is not with her. She loses that focus.

Ummmm, no....."My beau just got shot, let me record this" is not a normal reaction.

I have seen some trauma specialists talking about this incident that would disagree with you. The tool she is using may not be orthodox, but her behavior is textbook.

Pretty common for people to freak out under tremendous stress, trauma. I've even seen trained personnel nut up when shit hits the fan.

So in your experience, which is absolutely none, what is the normal reaction to an abnormal situation?

Plus her continuing to record may have kept the witness from being shot for "going for a gun" too.

I must admit if I was laying there taking my last breathes and to my immediate left was my spouse calmly making a facebook post and to my immediate right was a incompetent cop screaming I told him not to move; my thoughts would most likely be "Could one of you dumbasses apply pressure to this wound".
WTS, I don't know the experience of the female, but if she was not trained on triage we cannot lay 0.000001% of the blame at her feet. BTW, an easier way to remember your lifesaving steps is do your ABCs.

Maybe she has been trained in triage and triaged him as expectant in which case no treatment is necessary because triage and treatment are two different things. Or maybe she was following the officer's instructions of "keep your hands where they are."

Even if she was trained I can't lay blame. Me, in that situation, I don't know what I would have done. I do know, though, that moving to treat would not have happened.

I should have known that suggesting that had she be trained in triage she might have been 0.00001% to blame for not taking lifesaving steps was putting too much of the responsibility on her.
My apologies.
I'd like to think if my spouse was lying there dying and I was trained in lifesaving measures, then I would inform the officer of what I am doing and take my chances. Once again I have no idea of this lady's training or place any blame on her.

Sounds like a good way to get shot by an officer.

Yeah, for real. I know how you're a stickler for proper word usage. Triage and treatment are different. Triage involves assessing the severity of the patient's condition and prioritizing who gets treated first, second, third, etc in a mass casualty situation. Such as immediate, delayed, minimal, and expectant. First aid is treatment, not triage.

I probably would do the same, unless my kid was in the car. Then my first thought would be to get the moron with the gun to stop shooting.
