I see no useful purpose served by making such a list available to the public. As SSF has pointed out before, the top two things sought by thieves breaking and entering into a home are cash money and guns. A published list would basically hand more organized thieves a Christmas catalogue of opportunities to find the latter more easily. It's one thing if a gun owner is foolish enough to broadcast they own by placing a sign in front of their home or a bumper sticker on their car. It's another thing for the government to point out the rest of the owners who aren't so foolish.
