Hunter Biden to Plead Guilty

The point is that Hunter Biden isn't being treated differently than any other rich white first offender.  Change his last name to Smith or Trump and he would have received the same sentence for the same offense. Giving him a harsher sentence would actually be singling him out because of his last name.

That is the reality of the difference in our justice system between white and black and rich and poor.

Do you ever post anything 100% accurate. The prosecutor Weiss was appointed by 2 Democratic senators from Delaware, so you half correct he appointed Weiss, but did not appoint Weiss to the HB case. The judge who will make the decision on sentencing is not a Trump appointee. He is a Delaware federal judge.

We won't hold our breath since deal is in Delaware, but judge will get briefs from defense and prosecution and could ignore the plea deal and put Hunter in jail. It is not likely, but if he uses prior similar cases of tax fraud and gun charge sentencing HB goes to jail, he has final say in the sentencing and not Weiss and the prosector's office.

I guess you missed the Trump CFO  Weisselberg who is 75 years old put into Riker's prison in NY for 6 months for a far less tax violation. His investigation was quick, unlike the 5 year HB investigation. It took me minutes to find one.

Sure Pally, all white people male and female get off, while black rappers get over 3 years for gun violations.

You are a smart lady, do some research to find out the likelihood of anyone regardless of race getting  a pre-trial plea deal for lying on a federal gun application while proven he was using crack cocaine. It is extremely rare. But, hey show us many times Weiss has recommended no jail time for a druggie falsifying a federal gun application and never even took it trial.

It sounds like he did a bit more than Hunter Biden. Hunter also already had paid his unpaid taxes. If anything this proves that Hunters judgement meets the standard.

Not quite sure where you got the "far less" from as this guy appears to have been convicted of a felony and Hunters was only a misdemeanor.

as usual you want to compare apples and oranges.  Weisselberg had pleaded guilty to all 15 counts of grand larceny, criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records,  Hunter Biden, paid the the overdue taxes.

per conservative publicaion Forbes   https://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2023/06/20/hunter-biden-failed-to-pay-taxes-heres-why-hes-likely-not-going-to-jail/?sh=6092b975b5b4

Quote:According to the court documents, the tax liability was related to combined income of $3 million for those two years—$1.5 million per year. In 2021, Biden claimed to have paid the IRS what he owed. However, paying the liability after the due date (in this case, April 17, 2018, for the 2017 tax year and April 15, 2019, for the 2018 tax year) doesn't mean a crime was not committed.

A misdemeanor failure to pay can be escalated to a felony in some cases. According to the Department of Justice manual, those involve individuals who fail to file tax returns or pay a tax “but who also commit acts of evasion or obstruction.” In that case, the charges would be brought as felonies under sections 7201 or 7212(a). That’s not the case here—likely because Biden paid the tax due and was cooperating with authorities.

also from the article

Quote:Lying on the gun-purchase form can be a felony, though prosecutions for it are rare. It’s unclear how many of those cases involve lying about being a drug user, but prosecutors and defense attorneys say they’re infrequent and are almost always brought in connection with some other set of alleged crimes.

Senators do not appoint US Attorneys. That right belongs to the President. The Senate gives leeway to a states’s senators for approval of that person for their district. That means the President will often confer with them on the appointment. But that does not mean the get to make it. Weiss is a lifelong republican

HB according to the whistleblowers said The DOJ stepped in and said back off Hunter Biden being investigated. They said it, not me. They also the DOJ has HB for fraud and tax invasion in years 2014 and 2015, but the DOJ let the statutes run out.

I understand your news source for 6 years was Adam Schiff who is a pathological liar who is only the 25th member of Congress to be censured.

This is not going away, Comer and Grasserly are unraveling the shell companies and have found money sent to HB and it looking like Joe Biden and 7 other family members. China, Ukraine (who Joe boasted fire the prosecutor investigating Burisma and his son) or he would hold up aid to Ukraine.

https://www.wsj.com/video/opinion-joe-biden-forced-ukraine-to-fire-prosecutor-for-aid-money/C1C51BB8-3988-4070-869F-CAD3CA0E81D8.html

They have millions of dollars laundered to the Biden family from numerous foreign countries.

Did you ever think your news source (many did not cover the whistleblower testimony is wrong? Wouldn't a reputable news source cover this revelation of corruption by not only the Bidens, but the FBI and DOJ covering up crimes for the Bidens?

It is sad Congress has to investigate what the FBI and DOJ will not due to political bias.

The good news is the majority of America now agrees, the Bidens are corrupt. They also agree the FBI and the DOJ are also corrupt.

I googled how many Presidents or Vice Presidents threatened a foreign President they would withhold millions of dollars unless they fired a prosector.

Hmmmm..............In our entire history the answer is 1 and it was Joe Biden whose son was on the board of Burisma, a company the prosecutor was investigating for corruption.
Sorry, put your head in the sand but facts tell us HB was on the board of Burisma making millions of dollars with zero gas and oil experience. This is just one example JB had a hand in business dealings of HB. Joe lied and said never involved or discussed anything with HB and his business dealings. Only a partisan hack would believe JB was telling the truth.
Ask yourself a question, how do JB become rich on a senator's salary and teacher's salary (Jill) when she also took off 4 years from teaching?

Quote:Who is David Weiss, US prosecutor in Hunter Biden case?
By Andrew Goudsward
June 20, 20234:25 PM EDTUpdated 2 days ago

June 20 (Reuters) - David Weiss, the top federal prosecutor in Delaware, wrapped up the most closely watched investigation of his career on Tuesday when U.S. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax crimes.

Weiss, 67, who was appointed to his post by Republican then-President Donald Trump, agreed to stay on the job into the Biden administration to complete a long-running probe into Hunter Biden’s finances.
Hunter Biden, 53, agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of willfully failing to pay income taxes and reached an agreement on a gun-related offense that could allow him to avoid a conviction, according to court filings.

Weiss, who was described by former colleagues as an independent-minded career prosecutor, was tasked with spearheading a highly sensitive investigation into the Democratic president's son, who has come under intense scrutiny from Republican lawmakers.

“I don’t think he’s thinking about the politics at all,” said Thomas Ostrander, who worked with Weiss at law firm Duane Morris. “He’s simply thinking about doing his job and doing what’s appropriate under the circumstances.”

Congressional Republicans criticized the plea deal on Tuesday. Representative James Comer, who is leading investigations into Hunter Biden on the House of Representatives Oversight Committee, called it a “slap on the wrist.”

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has previously vowed not to interfere in the criminal investigation and answered Republican criticism by emphasizing Weiss’ role leading the probe.

Weiss was nominated to be U.S. attorney in Delaware by Trump in 2018 with the support of Delaware’s two Democratic U.S. senators.
He previously served as the top deputy in the office and was interim U.S. attorney during the early years of the 2009-2017 Obama administration.

Lawmakers credited Weiss with prosecuting corruption, money laundering, drug offenses and helping secure federal funding to combat illegal drug trafficking in Delaware.

Weiss, as the top U.S. prosecutor in the Biden family's home state, supervised the investigation from its start in 2018, focusing initially on potential violations of tax and money laundering laws in Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings, particularly in China, Reuters has reported.

The probe was not the first time Weiss worked on issues that sparked political intrigue. As a lawyer in private practice, Weiss’ firm represented the family of Anne Marie Fahey, a secretary of Delaware's then-governor who went missing in 1996.

Weiss pressed federal authorities to get involved in the investigation, Ostrander said, a move that helped lead to the murder conviction of Delaware’s former deputy attorney general.

Weiss also oversaw the prosecution of Christopher Tigani, a beer distributor who solicited donations for Joe Biden’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign and was later convicted of campaign finance violations, Politico reported.

Weiss’ office suffered a setback in a high-profile corporate case in 2021 when a federal appeals court overturned the convictions of four former Wilmington Trust executives accused of hiding troubled loans in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.
Prosecutors later agreed to drop all charges.

You see, here's the problem.  The MAGA only believe in their way.  Their answers.  Their truth.  I'm a lifelong conservative and registered republican, but I vote Democrat in Texas because the leaders here and nationally in the republican party are moronic, self-indulging, literally stupid politicians with no interest in being public servants, and the idiot republican base here just eat it up.  Ted Cruz is a complete and utter idiot.  I don't know how he graduated High School, yet he has a huge public following.  Just one example.

But Trump and the MAGA will go away for several reasons.
--  Trumps support damages candidates.  Over and over in the last election Trump backing cost candidates wins.  That's been proven.  Results don't lie.
--  Trump does not have broad support any more and his support is continuously degrading.  Polls don't lie.
--  If the national Republican leaders (McCarthy, McConnel (sp), etc.) do not step away from Trump, they will lose all control in congress and the Whitehouse.
--  Eventually Trump will pass, and with him will MAGA, because his support and following is based upon his Cult of Personality.  No one, absolutely no one can step into his shoes.  He was a Cult of Personality before he was a politician.  All of his political boot lickers try to be him, and all have failed.  DeSantis has had to move away from Trump, not just to run against him, but because he has NO CHARISMA.  Only Trump can be Trump, and without Trump MAGA will die.

Lastly, the funniest thing is that since MAGA only listen to Faux News, they think MAGA is healthy growing and going to win.   hahahah  Jokes on them.  Guess they'll have to believe in more false conspiracies of stolen elections.  The MAGA better reserve their tickets to DC for the next March on Congress is Jan 2025 because if Trump is your candidate, you aint winning, so he'll expect ACTION on your behalf.

WTF?!?!?  Well, FYI that's the job of the judge and not the prosecutor.  The prosecutor can only make recommendations and the defense also gets an opportunity to make their recommendations in mitigation.

Trump appointed David Weiss as a Federal Prosecutor for the District of Delaware in 2017 and he was sworn in in Feb 2018.  Here's the link.

This thread has been very revealing, and not in the intended fashion.
