It's too early for this poll since the '21 team has yet to win the Super Bowl. Once the boys win it next week, they'll solidify themselves as the best Bengals team ever. That said, I voted for the '21 team since they are actively playing.

The most exciting thing about this question/poll.  Is there is no reason (besides an onslaught of injuries) that the 2022 and 2023 teams shouldn't be better than 2021.  We are in a great position cap wise.  Young players who should only get better.  No really aging players that should decline.  And obvious spots to improve through free agency and/or draft.

The future is so bright!

If they win in LA, then absolutely. Right now? It's still 88. That team was steamrolling fools.

My opinion

I wasn't alive in 81 and was just a toddler in 88, so I feel like I can't accurately vote on this.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins

I know we are talking SB teams, but that 2015 season was clicking until Dalton broke his thumb.

Ken Should be in the Hall. Burrow is in his 2nd season maybe someday not right now.

If Burrow wins this super bowl, or any super bowls for that matter, I feel like the NFL writers suddenly remember they are allowed to let Bengals in lol.

Ken Anderson led the league in passer rating 4 times.  Burrow has never done it once.

Wasn't Burrow 2nd in passer rating this season?

I know he was first in completion percentage.

Probably not the best ever because ever would indicate forever as well so that would mean there would be no room or even chance for improvement the following season or any season thereafter..kind of like saying the greatest of all time meaning past, present and future..ALL TIME not just up until this very moment.. lol
How about just the best up to this epoch in Bengals football history?

If you stuck Kenny Anderson in his prime on this roster, he would probably suck tbh. Nothing against him, he was one of the best of his era, it's just evolution.  The rules are different, players are bigger, faster, and stronger now because training and nutrition have evolved too.  The way defense is played has adapted to fit the new rules and offensive schemes, too.

If we are adjusting for era - I'd probably still lean towards 2021 but honestly I was 6 years old in 1981 so I can't claim to be an expert on that team.

You can compare vs that time period as for rules they go both ways, it was a war in 81 on. Outside and QB were targets ...

Also, Boomer and Kenny both have MVPs, and Burrow does not.

Had to vote 21. As a 54yr old, in toughness, 21 is no match for the other teams. However, the electricity of this team and the ability to fight back after deficits, bad starts, athleticism and skill by far exceeds the 81-88 teams.

Hard to compare QB talent then, per QB talent now. But he will lead the league when the OL is solid.
