Since folks brought up Hillary...

"Lock her up" chants about Hillary Clinton at a Trump rally on the day Trump's campaign manager and personal lawyer get jail time is really GOP politics right now in a nutshell.

Oh, I wasn't singling you out. In fact, I think most of the references in this thread have been by people we tend to think of as left-leaning. Shocked

Everyone seems to forget him.

I just forgot him even after I wrote that. Nervous

If only Slick Willie had thought of calling the news "fake" he would have maintained his sterling reputation.

This is a first.  You do have to prove a crime has occurred.  Even if a person pleads guilty.

Imagine the whole justice systems' surprise when they discover they have convicted someone who confessed to doing something that wasn't even a crime.

I'll bet all the many thousands of judges have egg on their faces! Hilarious

They should know by now that campaign funds are there to be spent on whatever the candidate chooses! Ninja

This isn't someone making a confession. A plea means that the evidence is so overwhelming that the defense knows there will be a conviction. And that evidence would be evidence of a crime, BTW.

As would I.  If someone wants to pay me millions to post any pro-lefty article I come across I will be happy to do it.

Hold it there.  Your conservative slip is swing.  Many many people in prison plead guilty to a crime they are innocent of because they were afraid they would get convicted anyway.  Most people in prison probably.

Are you claiming that Cohen was innocent?

That would mean that there actually was a crime that occurred that he was accused of. Ninja

So technically he's not innocent of these non-crimes, but he is innocent of all crimes.

Campaign funding misappropriation is a crime. It is not a "non-crime", as some tweeters would have you believe.

He is going to jail because a crime was committed and he admitted doing it. If you claim he is innocent, who knows? But right now, you are the only person I've seen claim that.

One analysis I was listening to earlier was even though Cohen pleaded guilty, the trick here is finding proof that the money paid was solely not to hurt the campaign ie. hiding it from the voters, instead of being paid off to hide his affairs from his wife and children.

I dont see how the payments made were not done for the campaign myself, but from a legal pov, doesnt there have to be proof of that for this to be some real ammo against Trump? I dont know, just throwing it out there though to see.
