To me, these two instances look like an absent seizure. I had them when I was a kid and outgrew them, but they looked very similar to this.

KY isn't likely to let a Democrat governor select the person to replace him, so they'll leave him out there as long as they can.

KY passed a law last year to make Gov. Beshear pick a member of the GOP if Mitch resigned or fell over dead.  The law says,  the GOV has to pick a member from the same political party as a member who vacated. 

Anyway, that was hard to watch--I disagree with him politically, but he's still a human being so prayers to Mitch McConnell and his family.
