Donald Trump posted a response last night on Truth Social to Joe Biden's remarks about the pandemic, and he is getting absolutely destroyed in the replies by his own MAGA supporters.
MAGA is almost 100% anti-vax. It is one of the reasons why so many of them also like anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist RFK Jr., who became a MAGA celebrity during the pandemic. Trump has always desperately wanted to claim that his "Operation Warp Speed" to push out the vaccine quickly saved hundreds of millions of lives. Setting aside the merits of his argument that HE is the one responsible, Trump believes that claiming credit for the vaccines will cement his place in history as a great president and leader. There is just one problem for the malignant narcissist that drives him nuts - his supporters hate it.
In the first major rallies of his post-presidency in 2022, Trump incorporated into his standard speech a few lines about how great the vaccine was and how he should get all the credit for them. It shocked him though when his die hard cultists actually booed and jeered him over it. Trump's fragile ego absolutely cannot handle being booed to his face, so he tried hard to persuade them in subsequent rallies by emphasizing that he never mandated the vax and they were free to choose. For people who view the vaccine as a Deep State plot to depopulate the world, that didn't quite cut it.
What made it even worse was when RFK Jr. decided to run as an Independent, and the polls immediately thereafter showed that he was pulling more votes away from Trump than Biden. Many consultants and pollsters were stunned. How could a Kennedy draw more votes away from Trump than a Democrat? The answer was simple - they were Trump supporters whose #1 issue is the vaccine, and they couldn't forgive Trump for promoting them.
Trump hated to cut the Warp Speed World Hero lines out of his rally speeches, but ultimately he was forced to do it. He was hearing about it all the time from his advisors, family, right-wing media and on social media every time he brought it up. So he stopped completely. Trump has gone out of his way to avoid the topic, and his supporters have started to let it go. But last night, he wrecked all of that.
When Biden was talking about how much of a mess he inherited from the Trump Admin during the worst of the pandemic, Trump fired off a post saying that he is the one who saved America with the vaccines.

Trump was live-posting his "responses" during Biden's speech last night. There were dozens and dozens of them minutes apart. When I was going through them this afternoon, I noticed that one post had far more engagement than any other - especially in the replies which were up to 4,380. That is a massive number of replies on Truth Social for a Trump tweet. When I read the replies, every single one was attacking Trump for the post, and every single one was a Trump supporter.
