I'm sorry, did he prevent them from holding a hearing for a nominee that both parties agree would be shoe in if a vote were held? I mean, I don't doubt that if the roles were reversed it would be the same because that is the political climate we are in, but false analogies don't help.

Voting against an individual nominee is a lot different than agreeing beforehand as a bloc that you are not going to even consider anyone presented because you want to wait and see how election results turn out. In the former circumstance, at least the nominee was considered. That is business as usual. The latter is not.
