{ Postgame Reactions Thread - Week 1 }
In today's press conference with Zac Taylor, he said that this was the biggest rain game he's seen in the past 10 years.
So he felt that the rain+wind yesterday was an incredibly huge factor in the performance of the offense.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins

Yep. Mo is on now so I'll be interested if anything else newsworthy is said.

If Zac is blaming the rain then we are in trouble.

Good thing only 1 team had to play in the wind.

Yea, c'mon Zac, they looked great in a windy snowstorm last year in Buffalo.

No, but they’re built to run the ball, and we’re built to pass. It’s obviously going to affect the Bengals more.

The Browns are much more designed for a rainy+windy game than the Bengals.
They aren't nearly as dependent on passing like the Bengals are.
Watson only had 154 passing yards on the day, with a completion percentage of just 55% and a QB rating of 67.3.
The weather most certainly affected them too.
They just are way better at running the ball than the Bengals.

One counter I'll give is the Browns were terrible against the run last year. Granted Zac WANTS to pass, but this was a game we needed to run more.

Agreed. Mixon was running pretty well, too.

Joe's played in bad weather against the Bills and in NE he got the franchise record in completions.

He hasn't had this issue in rain before. That's a dangerous excuse given he plays in Ohio and Bengals aren't a dome team. It's actually one of the worse excuses Zac could have gave. The highest paid player in the league plays in Ohio and cant play in the rain/wind? Gulp. Just when criticism and trolling of Burrow was dying down online....

Snow doesn’t saturate the balls as much (see Watson’s comment). And yeah, there was obviously other factors going on with Burrow. But the rain did give both passers issues yesterday. Do we lose that game in perfect conditions? Probably. But I doubt it would have been that ugly.

I understand we are a passing team and the offense runs through Burrow, but the coaches have to see that he doesn't have it, or the rain is an issue or both. The defense was playing well but eventually got gassed because we could not get any extended drives. We should have tired slowing the game down and ran the ball as much as possible.

People keep saying that we should've leaned on the run more yesterday. Prior to the 4th QTR, on 9 drives, we ran on 1st down on 7 of them; all but 2 of those plays went for more than 3 yards (1 went 4 yards, the other was the big 12 yarder).

That's not to say they couldn't have run more on 2nd downs or on even 3rd and shorts. But aside from the 1 drive, the run game wasn't exactly there to be leaned on.

I do agree with you that this game would've been ripe for play action passes.

Sounds to me like he's saying it was A factor, which it was, not that the rain is to blame for the loss. So, no, we are not in trouble.

Kudos to the entire defense. They played a helluva game and honestly, if we had ANY offensive showing, we probably win, but they kept us in the game until the 2nd half when they finally were just getting too tired being out there.

11 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 FF, 1 sack

Love our LB duo.

Yeah buddy! I noticed on the sack he had, if Watson goes the other direction, Logan was right there. Absolutely fantastic job by the front office getting those two extended.
