I actually know a bit more about the story with that last quote, met a member of the flight crew. At least, I'm assuming this is the same incident. She may have done it more than once.

Edit: after reading about this particular quote, it was a different incident. Can also confirm that she was known as "First Witch" and "First something-that-rhymes-with-witch" behind her back by many of the military and SS details.
