Coronavirus
In one day, one press conference DJT admitted he didn't think preparing was important, he wants to keep the numbers of those infected artificially low and completely politicized it by saying his response was "almost" as perfect as the call to the Ukraine.

Oh, ans said he knows so much about these things even the doctors praise him and maybe he could have been a scientist....then calls the gov of Washington a "snake" as he deals with the virus spread and deaths.

But his defenders have been trained to not believe what they hear and see but only what they are told.

And I'll add that even if it is "only" killing" those with underlying health issues we STILL should take it more seriously that DJT and his gang do.

But then I care about all people.  I know, "liberal".

Yes. All about de-legitimizing the institutions with standards, professionals who vet their sources, including scientists and doctors,

Trump can’t even get the numbers of those infected or who have died from the Coronavirus in the US correct. Where did you get the health history of those who have died from the Coronavirus?

If you trust Trump’s word then I take it you believe windmill noise causes cancer.

At least DJT got another round (two? three?) or golf in this weekend.

Oh, and the virus is spreading.

And we don't have test kits.

And the rest of the world is aggressively quarantining and attacking the spread...and Trump is holding dinners at his properties with world leaders saying how great his rallies are.

These are from earlier this morning as the rest of the US is watching to see how much stocks drop based off the international numbers dropping.

DJT whistling past the graveyard and believing he can still turn the topic away.  All this will do is get people to say how he is ignoring the real story.

All in counties that went for Obama.

Thanks MSM and Democrats, for distracting Trump while he is trying to protect the country!

Well yeah, if they are testing almost no one...

https://www.wlwt.com/article/4-people-being-tested-for-coronavirus-in-ohio-health-officials-say/31270056

Quote:Four people in Ohio are currently being tested for suspected coronavirus, according to the Ohio Department of Health officials and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

DeWine held a news conference Saturday and said there are no confirmed cases but said a total of five people in Ohio were being tested for suspected coronavirus.

One of those five patients tested negative, and four cases are pending results. Overall, 10 possible cases in the state have tested negative since monitoring began.

The health department said it will regularly update its website to show how many people are being tested and the results of those who were tested.

Health officials are also monitoring travelers referred to the Ohio Department of Health for monitoring. It includes those who have completed their self-monitoring period but aren't exhibiting symptoms of illness.

The governor said tests would be available to Ohioans and the health department would prioritize people who are very sick. The tests would be returned to the Ohio Department of Health, and the results could take up to 8 to 24 hours.

The Ohio Department of Health has a call center that will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. You can call with any question about the coronavirus. The number is 1-833-427-5634.

I don't want to make light of a really bad situation with the stock market and health crisis, but due to the fed cut last week, interest rates are at, essentially, all time lows.

If you have the means, I'd recommend looking into refinancing your home. You could probably save hundreds of dollars a month or cut the term of your mortgage by 5 years at a marginal (or nonexistent) monthly increase.

Not sure if this is the right place for this post, but I think the fed cut was a direct response to the coronavirus downturn, so figured I may as well post it here.

It is my understanding that they were only testing people for coronavirus if they had been someplace that specifically exposed them tom it. In other words lots of people might have it who are not being tested for it.

Supposedly that is about to change. So there will probably be big headlines about hundreds or thousands of "new" cases when in fact there have always been a lot more cases but they were not being detected because not everyone was getting tested for it.

Look for the fed to cut again.

Funny how they have had to keep cutting dramatically during "the greatest economy in history".

Generally rate cuts are only necessary when the economy needs a boost.

Now when things get worse they have no tools to fix it.

Well, there's no doubt that this economy is, to one degree or another, smoke and mirrors. Whether it's the fed cutting rates to keep it afloat or if it's stock buybacks masquerading as genuine market growth, I don't think the economy is as strong as Trump claims it is. There have been warning signs before, such as the inverted yield curve. Rate cuts are also one of those warning signs.

But then, I'm not an economist. I don't want to be out here sounding like an anti-Trump conspiracy theorist! Tongue

I'm actually going to side with Trump on this, kind of. The mortality rate of this thing is being far overblown because of confirmation bias in how we have tested, even in the limited testing we have done. We generally have only tested the very sick and it would logically make sense that those who are very sick have a higher chance of death than those who show absolutely no symptoms at all. I was reading yesterday that outside of Italy, who apparently their are some questions about how they are testing, other countries that are testing at a much higher rate are showing far lower mortality rates (below 2%) because the sampling better reflects the high rate of carriers who show little to no symptoms from the disease.

Now is it still as low as the flu? No. However, the thing I read yesterday was essentially saying that the current rates in other developed countries who test at a higher rate are MUCH closer to flu than other corona viruses we have seen in the past like SARS or MERS. I still believe that this overreaction is doing far more harm than good and is another result of the endless 24 hour news cycle. I was around for H1N1 and I don't remember a literal counter talking about each new case or death, it's almost like we want to think we are in a dooms day scenario.
